We had to gut it down to the studs, kept the exterior siding, but everything else had to be replaced, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, plus walls, floors, ceilings, bathroom and kitchen. The works. "Some of the work I needed done was painting of 3 exterior entry doors, but the weather wasn't feasible 2 do in November. Those would need 2 be done next year in warmer weather. He did get the 12' of trim that needed 2 be replaced completed. The door he made out plywood 2 block off the upstairs from the main floor works. The plywood was warped. I didn't ask 4 anything fancy and that is what I got. The hinges and door closure are fine and work properly. James did some work on 1 of my 2 dogs kennel. He reinforced 2 sides of kennel with extra bracing 2 ensure the dog can't get out. James did a great job on this! James was very pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable on the work that was done. I would use his handyman skills again. I've attached pictures of the door and the kennel work. Thank u."

Most drywall used for interior walls of homes is 1/2-inch thick. This size strikes a balance of being easy to handle and hang while being thick enough for the durability needed on interior wall applications.

Yes, it matters which side of drywall you use. One side is smooth, and the other is rough. The smooth side should be facing outward, toward the room, while the rough side should be hidden and facing the studs and framing of the house. The smooth side will be easier to apply tape, joint compound, and, later, paint to.
