Your shims and the gap they fill will be covered when you install door trim, so don’t worry too much about the appearance.

You should hire a licensed and insured door contractor with prior experience installing folding doors. Installing these doors is much more complex than installing a standard sliding door; don’t leave this work to a general handyperson or attempt to install it yourself.

Most bedroom doors are 30, 32, or 36 inches wide and about 80 inches tall, depending on the size of the room, the height of the ceiling, and any special accommodations that may be necessary for the bedroom’s occupant.
