"I was impressed with Chuck from Shamrock Chimney. He was realistic in his discussion and went thru various options from converting to a gas fireplace to wood inserts. This is pretty typical of what you see when you open a floor. A great deal of water I see that concrete floor!
With the previous work, they had used a garden hose to try to guide the water to drain tile. Seven out of 10 of the garden hoses were clogged with stone. If someone talks to you about using garden hoses as a part of the project, move on.
After cleaning the crack, we install ports that we will inject our polyurethane foam that expands up to 20 times, filling the crack from the inside all the way out to the outer wall.
Not every home has a “true footing”. In this case, while the wall didn’t look great it was extremely solid, so it made for a very smooth project from beginning to end.

"The price was fair. When they originally came to do it, there was not enough road gravel down so we had to have the other guy come back and redo that. We kept getting a promise date and then they wouldn't show. It took a while to get them back so we were a little disappointed with them. We couldn't reach them. We would leave messages and they wouldn't call back. Since we missed our first opportunity, then we got pushed back and they took care of the other places. They should have responded and let us know. When they finally did come the crew was great and the finished product was good. The pricing was in the ballpark. This was set up through our contractor. They did finally come when they said but it took 3 times. We might look for somebody else in the future."

On average, a quality exterior brick stain can last between 10 and 20 years, and sometimes even longer. While it will look its best for a minimum of three to five years, its total lifespan depends on several factors. These include the quality and type of stain used, the condition of the brick, and the thoroughness of the surface preparation, such as proper cleaning. You will repoint over a fraction of the old mortar, but you should scrape away 1/2 to 1 inch of mortar from the joints before repointing. Otherwise, the repointing is only masking the weakened mortar instead of actually replacing it, which could put your chimney at risk of bigger, more expensive damages later on.
