"Chuck was friendly, professional, and respectful in my home. He cleaned the floor tile and grout in my sunroom and color sealed it afterward. I originally wanted to eventually get new tile, but chuck did such a good job that Iâ m happy with the tile we have! He made it look brand new!"

"Mr. Ferariu installed the tile in all bathrooms of our house (floor, shower, etc.) and he did an outstanding job. Nick was involved in every aspect of the project and made several suggestions regarding the quality of tile/material used. Mr. Ferariuâ s attention to detail and quality of work have resulted in the successful completion of the project, and I would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for high quality tile work."

"It took Christine and Emily 1 1/2 hours to clean my 1600 sq ft, 1 1/2 story home in Ann Arbor, and it only cost $95 (my former service, Majestic Maids, charged $120 and didn't clean everything like Beacon Cleaners did).  When they were done, EVERYTHING in my home SHINED and smelled VERY CLEAN.  Christine and Emily were very pleasant and friendly, and even petted my two cats!  They are definitely coming back to clean my home every 2 weeks, and will stay longer to clean something extra as long as I notify them beforehand.  It's very difficult to find a cleaning service in the Ann Arbor area who will clean just about anything.  Majestic Maids and three other housecleaning services expected me to clear my tables and counters and put my dusty objects away because they wanted to "speed clean" my home.  I don't consider that cleaning my home!  It cost extra to have my kitchen appliances like my toaster, coffeemaker, and blender dusted and that should be part of the USUAL cleaning service, not something I had to pay extra for.  Beacon Cleaning Services is based in Dearborn and is just beginning to branch out and clean houses in Ann Arbor.  They hire only family members and close friends so they can be trusted.  I highly recommend their services!!"

"Mel did a fantastic job redoing the tiles on the shower in our new house. It involved taking out old tile, redoing the base of the shower, and then retiling the bottom of the walls and the entire bottom of the shower. He walked me through the process as he was doing it and showed me where the old leak was and how he was planning to tile the shower so it wouldn't leak any more. It worked! And, it looks great!"

"We purchased a 800 square ft. carpet cleaning deal through Angie's List.  Communication through Angie's List (messages) and phone was professional and prompt.  They were able to work with us on scheduling as we needed the work done by a certain day/time.  They arrived exactly on time and the process was simple and professional.  They were able to work around/move items in the rooms to clean all the carpeting.  Two workers arrived in a well-marked vehicle.  It took them less than 30 minutes to clean all the rooms. Paperwork was accurate and easy-to-read.  We would use them again.

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

A quality shower tiling project is a bathroom upgrade that can increase resale value. Bathroom remodels have the highest return on investments for any home update. Tiling a shower won’t offer the potential 70% ROI that a full bathroom remodel involving upgrading fixtures, installing storage, and a complete room retile will. However, you can expect an average return of 55% to 60% for this refresh.

Glass, ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone are all excellent choices for tiling a shower floor. Some glazed finishes can be slippery when wet. Your tiling contractor can provide more information on which tiles will work best for your shower floor.

Thinset mortar is the best adhesive for ceramic tiles on concrete. It is easy to work with and has a slower dry time than mastic or epoxy mortars. This longer dry time gives the installer more time to adjust tiles, which is especially useful for DIYers who may not have tile installation experience. It can also be built up to help level any depressions or gaps in the concrete subfloor.

The lifespan of tile flooring can vary significantly based on the material and maintenance. Generally, tile flooring can last anywhere from 10 to 30 years, but high-quality, well-maintained ceramic tile can last 75 to 100 years. To achieve a longer lifespan, you should clean the tiles and grout regularly, reseal the grout annually, keep the floor dry, and avoid placing extremely heavy items on it to prevent cracking. Choosing a high-quality tile (Grade 1) will also contribute to its longevity.

Grout and caulk are commonly used together, especially in bathrooms. Grout goes between the tiles and keeps them sturdy and in place on the walls or floor. Caulk goes in corners or where two different materials meet (like where the bathtub meets the tile) to create a waterproof seal. However, they are not interchangeable—you shouldn't use caulk to adhere tile and shouldn’t use mortar if you need a waterproof seal.
