"Really well. They used their bucket to reach branches over my garage and climbed the tree to bring it down in relatively small pieces. The crew each new what to do at any given time and were great about cleaning the lawn as they went. They ground up the branches and hauled away large blocks of tree trunk and branches. I was really pleased with their skill and professionalism and will hire them again in a minute should the need arise. They also trimmed off dead branches on a large pine tree."

"They were excellent. They cleaned up so good that you could not tell that they just cut down a 75 ft. Tall pin oak tree. I would highly recommend them for any tree service. Great communication and very professional. I will definitely use them in the future"

"Our estimate included a careful assessment of our large, old tree. They came out for the estimate only a few days after we called while other services we called for an estimate never even returned our call. The person who did the estimate was obviously knowledgeable about tree health and structure. I was given an estimate immediately. When the crew came out to do the work they communicated for a long time via phone, exchanging photos, with the person who gave the estimate so they knew exactly what limbs to remove. There were many large limbs over the house and they carefully removed them with no damage to house or smaller trees and shrubs. They kindly left me the chips for my garden. They cleaned up so well I could hardly tell they were there. Workers were friendly and highly skilled. We will recommend them to others and not hesitate for a second to use them again."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Dead trees are dangerous for several reasons. They are structurally compromised and prone to branch or trunk failure, which can pose a significant safety risk to people, vehicles, and nearby structures. Dead trees can also harbor pests like termites, which may spread to other trees or your home. If a tree died from a disease, it could spread the illness to healthy trees. Additionally, the dry wood is highly flammable, increasing fire risk.

While it’s best to have access to large, healthy, strong trees in a safe position, treehouse living is still possible without them. Contractors can fit tree posts to build the structure onto or use posts as additional support alongside the trees themselves. If you’re in doubt about the suitability of the trees on your land, consult with a local treehouse builder before you start the project.

Carefully pruning small roots no thicker than three inches in diameter won’t harm the tree. However, cutting larger roots may impact the tree's stability and nutrient absorption. It's advisable to consult an arborist or tree care professional to evaluate the root's size, the tree's health, and the potential impact of cutting. Proper tree pruning techniques and timing can minimize damage, but larger root removal may necessitate expert guidance to avoid compromising the tree's overall health and stability.

You can find pruning paints and sealants for trees, but you shouldn’t use them on a topped tree. Coatings like these often inhibit the tree’s healing process. An important exception is if there are dangerous fungi nearby that the tree is particularly vulnerable to, like oaks and oak wilt. Sealing cuts can help prevent fungi from taking root.

A pro can guide you on the alternatives to tree topping depending on the specific issues within your trees. For example, if you’re dealing with breakage and cracks in your tree, they may suggest canopy reduction, which removes less than 25% of the tree’s limbs. If you’re dealing with lesser damage, some intentional pruning may be all you need. If you’re looking to get a clearer view through your tree, the pro may also try windowing or skirting your tree.
