"If you want an excellent job, a trustworthy contractor, and an all-around great person to do your work, I would highly recommend hiring Eric Sandow. He is a courteous, and very conscientious individual and most importantly pays particular attention to detail."

"One of our rental homes had a bad house fire. We had to gut it down to the studs, kept the exterior siding, but everything else had to be replaced, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, plus walls, floors, ceilings, bathroom and kitchen. The works. Tyler from SimpleFix ran the project with his crew, kept in great communication, and stayed on it until we were satisfied with the finished work. His estimate was accurate, and we have received rave reviews from tenants about how grateful the place looks since then. We've continued to use SimpleFix for many projects since then, and we keep coming back to because they communicate promptly and get the work done right. We highly recommend SimpleFix, and we often refer them to friends and family, too."

Small jobs welcome

"We bought a house whose maintenance had been neglected over the years. The smell inside the house was bad and we knew that the whole inside of the house would need to be repainted. The original painter we hired backed out at the last minute and we needed to find a reputable painter immediately. Turned to Home Advisor and found several that were listed. Looked at reviews and decided to contact Bill Searle Painting. We are so glad that we did! Bill and his crew came in on short notice and repainted the whole inside of the house, including the doors! The bad smell was almost gone (completely gone after floors were redone). The paint job they did was absolutely fantastic and we cannot say enough about how great of a job they did. We also hired them to power wash the outside of the house and to stain the front deck of the house. Their work is outstanding! They impressed our son and his family enough to hire them to paint the inside of their home. We will have some other projects to do next year and we plan to contact Bill and have him come back to do the work. Do not hesitate to contact Bill if you need any painting or staining work that needs to be done!"

Painting questions, answered by experts

There’s no single paint that’s the most waterproof. Instead, there are several types of waterproof and water-resistant paints that suit different purposes. Epoxy paint, for instance, is commonly used to provide a waterproof coating to floors and decks. Masonry paint is an excellent choice for exterior walls. Meanwhile, there are waterproof acrylic paints that can be used for interior and exterior walls. It’s more about choosing the best type for what you’re painting instead of the most waterproof paint overall.

Paint your fence, install customized fence slats, or attach a bamboo screen for a more appealing yard aesthetic. Paint can give your yard a unique and fun look, and adding fence slats gives you a classic fence appearance. Bamboo screens are probably the most unique option that can add a fun vibe to your space.

Painting or staining protects fences from environmental damage, enhances durability, and improves curb appeal with a fresh, customized look.

Yes, you can waterproof any wood that has not already been treated. A good way to test this is to splash some water on it. If the water starts to bead up, the wood is treated and most likely doesn’t need another coating.

Stain is meant to be absorbed by the porous wood, allowing some of the natural grain to show through. With that in mind, you don’t want to add more stain than the wood can absorb, as you risk covering up its natural markings. Generally, two coats is the maximum you should do, although very dense hardwoods may only be able to take a single coat.
