Small jobs welcome

"They did a really good job and they stand behind their work. The prices are competitive and they take pride in their work. I had a really old front door that was not insulated and they put in a new one with plenty of insulation. They also put in a new storm door and a garage side door that meant making a new doorway that's sealed properly. They answered all my questions and were respectful of the property"

"We asked Robert Rekuta to create an archway thru a solid wall, connecting the dining room to the front room. Also, we asked him to separate the electrical circuit in the main bath from the master bath and to run some new electrical circuits in the basement. He did a great job on all the requests over the course of 2 full days. Robert did a very meticulous job of removing the old portion of the wall, creating the archway into the front room, putting up new drywall, mudding the area, rerouting an electrical line he discovered in the wall, etc. He mudded, sanded and primed over and over until he got it just perfect! Just what we asked for. Robert shows up on time, had the materials he needed, got right to work, did not waste any time, worked thru lunch and meticulously checked that everything was done perfectly. And, he even cleaned up at the end of each day so that we did not have to clean up after him. Robert is a very talented guy who expertly handled our remodeling, carpentry and electrical issues and he is very careful to do it right! We have other projects planned and we will be contacting Robert Rekuta before we talk to anyone else. And we found his pricing to be VERY reasonable, too. Probably the BEST CONTRACTOR EXPERIENCE we have ever had! Call him!"

"Chris was able to remove the broken door handle and replace it with the new one I had bought. He was friendly, efficient and came on a Sunday so we could use our bedroom the same night! Chris was awesome!"

Doors questions, answered by experts

The lock block will either be built-in on the side of the door or run from the top to the bottom. Usually, there is a marking that indicates its location. You can also tap the door with the back of a screwdriver to find the lock block like you would find a stud in a wall.

Sliding doors and pocket doors are both great space savers, but they work a bit differently. A sliding door moves along a track and is always visible, sliding next to a wall or another door. On the other hand, a pocket door slides into a slot in the wall, hiding away completely when it's open. This makes pocket doors a perfect choice if you're looking to maximize every inch of floor space, unlike sliding doors that can still take up some room even when they're open.

If a sofa doesn’t fit through the door, try angling it to maneuver it through. You’d be surprised at how often this works. Next, remove the legs and cushions and try again. If that doesn’t work, consider an alternate entry point like a window or a back door. When all else fails, contact a pro.

Butt hinges are the most common of all door hinges. They’re frequently used in commercial and residential structures, secure interior and exterior doors, and can be used on cabinetry. They’re inexpensive, simple to install, easy to remove, and available in various materials and styles. They come with two leaves with a knuckle or barrel in the middle.

The most common rough opening for a sliding glass door is 60 inches to 72 inches by 80 inches. A rough opening is the unframed space where your door will go.
