Small jobs welcome

"Amanda and her team really listened to our concerns and desires for the organizing project. Great communication between us, fantastic suggestions and support. I canâ t believe how wonderful it all turned out. My husband and I certainly could not have done this without her expertise and wise recommendations. I would definitely recommend using her services for anyone needing help with organizing their home, space, office, etc. We feel very blessed to have worked with her for the job. We plan on doing it again in the near future."

"Antonella was more than willing to assist us with the interior decoration of our newly remodeled home. She was meticulous in her selection of window furnishings and furniture that would be suitable to our needs. We are very impressed with the outcomes as per Antonella s recommendations. A great interior designer within the Metro Detroit community. Would definitely recommend!"

"I feel extremely fortunate to have found Vicki through Angie's List !  She is an extremely talented person who is very easy to deal with. She has a breath of knowledge that allows her to accommodate my tastes, but also ensure that the overall design is in sync with the design and location of my home.  She has  a very diplomatic way of suggesting when I'm going astray with my choices and in every case where she has told me "Trust Me"  I have been delighted ! She is very aggressive in helping me find the best pricing and often times will work with the vendors directly  hence saving me the time.  She also has excellent local contacts.  Everyone I've worked with through Vicki has been timely, professional, and highly competent.
My project is far from complete.  I intend to continue to use Vicki and her expert advice until the end !!!!"

"

Did a good job, providing 2 layouts to choose from.  Completed design and sent email and snail mail paint and furniture samples in a little over a month from starting the process.  The previous estimate was 2-3 weeks so it wasn't so late.  My only disappointment was the design was not for the complete room.  They told me that the missing area was considered an entry way or hallway and could be designed for an additional fee.  I did not want to pay an additional and accepted their explanation, but on second thought, in my opinion, it isn't really separate.  There is a large archway one-third of the way into the room, but I have never considered it as two separate rooms and no one visiting my home has ever mentioned it.  Every room has an entrance.  I wouldn't call the way to get into a room as a separate room. Other than that, I would say a got a great deal overall.

Home Staging questions, answered by experts

Yes, removing a fireplace can decrease your home's value, as it is a sought-after feature for many buyers. The potential loss in value is estimated to be between $1,000 and $5,000. The impact can vary by market and climate; for example, a fireplace is more valued in colder regions like Minnesota than in warmer areas like Florida.

However, if a fireplace is in poor condition and needs extensive repairs, removing it might be a reasonable option. When deciding, weigh the benefits of removal (more floor space, less maintenance, reduced energy loss) against the potential decrease in home value. If you plan to sell soon, it is generally advised not to remove it.

The main factors to consider when staging your home when selling are your budget, number of rooms to stage, and how long to keep the staged setup. Since home staging costs about $600 per room when using professional services, you may want to only stage the rooms that are most important to potential buyers, including the kitchen, living room, and primary bedroom. You should also consider which repairs or updates are necessary before staging your home, such as painting interior walls, carpet cleaning, and refinishing hardwood floors.

It is generally better to stage a house than to leave it empty, as it can help the home sell faster and for a higher price. Staging helps potential buyers envision themselves living in the property. According to the National Association of Realtors, more than 75% of buyer’s agents report that staging makes it easier for buyers to build a connection with the home. Furthermore, a 2018 survey of over 4,200 professionally staged homes revealed that most sold for 6% to 25% more than their unstaged counterparts. Using a professional staging service can improve a buyer’s opinion of your house and may lead to higher offers.

A simple cosmetic flip with minor repairs can take as little as a few weeks, while more extensive projects that involve structural changes or permit requirements can take several months. The time it takes to renovate a house ranges between three and six months, depending on factors like the extent of renovations, financing, and market conditions.

The average cost to stage a home is around $1,800, with most sellers paying between $800 and $2,800 for professional services. However, the total cost can vary significantly, ranging from $500-$600 for an initial consultation to $5,000 or more for comprehensive, full-home staging.

The final price depends on several factors, including the home's size, location, and condition, as well as the number of rooms being staged. Other key cost drivers include whether you need to rent furniture, the quality of the decor, the stager's experience, and the duration of the staging services. The scope of the project also plays a role, from virtual staging and simple decluttering to full-service design, which may involve repairs and maintenance.
