"These guys were GREAT! Called them to correct a flowerbed disaster from another contractor, who I did not want anything to do with anymore. The sales rep Adam was fantastic, straight forward, honest and really cared that the job will be done correctly and that I would be completely satisfied with their work. I can't say enough good things about these guys. They said the job would take two days and it did. When it was done, they power washed and re-sanded the patio pavers gratis. My patio never looked so good. These guys were so good and so professional. I'd hire these guy again in a second."

Small jobs welcome

"Dominic and his crew went above and beyond to ensure my expectations were met for my driveway and patio. The entire Division Building team was at my house to ensure that the project was completed in one day. They also took additional steps to make sure they left my house (and surrounding neighbors) as clean as it was when they arrived. I will be sending anyone I know to use this company, it was a great experience."

"Pete and Ron did a fantastic job on our driveway. Both hard workers, pleasant, and very knowledgeable. Pavers integration with the driveway was exceptional. Ron was skilled like a surgeon putting it all together. Jeff Cherry fulfilled his promised and extremely happy with his teams job."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Asphalt is not a type of concrete. While both are a common type of pavement, asphalt is composed of aggregates (like sand and gravel) and bitumen; concrete is a mixture of cement, aggregates, and water. Here are some of the key differences between asphalt and concrete driveways.

The cost to replace a driveway ranges from $8 to $15 per square foot, depending on factors that include material, size, and labor. If your driveway has deep cracks, potholes, or drainage issues (or if it’s simply past its prime), replacement might be the smarter investment over constant repairs. Resurfacing can be a cheaper alternative at $3 to $20 per square foot, but it won’t fix your driveway’s underlying problems.

Three inches is a great thickness for a residential asphalt driveway that sees minimal to moderate traffic from cars, SUVs, and pickup trucks. However, a thicker driveway can better withstand the weight of a heavier vehicle, such as a trailer or a recreational vehicle. If you drive a heavy vehicle on a thin driveway, you risk cracking and damaging it.

Cobblestone is just one of many driveway materials. Other, more economical, albeit less elaborate options include concrete, asphalt, and gravel.

If you want a material that most closely resembles cobblestone, your best option is bricks or pavers. Both cost anywhere from $10 to $50 per square foot and can be laid in all kinds of patterns. Depending on the type of paver you choose, you can also get a good bang for your buck by investing in durable natural stone.

The dimensions of a driveway apron vary based on local building codes, the width of your driveway, and the distance between the driveway and the road. On average, aprons range from 12 to 24 feet wide and 8 to 18 feet long. Typically, the end of the apron connected to the driveway matches its width—such as 10 to 12 feet for a single-car driveway—while the end at the street flares out to allow cars to turn in and out more easily. In some areas, you may not be responsible for the portion of the apron that extends beyond the sidewalk, but this depends on local laws.
