"I am very pleased with the results. The existing fiberglass shower was removed, as well as the ceramic tile in other area of bathroom. I purchased the tile which was my choice, McDowell Tile would have done that if that was my desire. Subway tile (4" x12") was installed floor to ceiling, octagon tile on the shower floor, and 12" x 12" floor tile on the remaining bath area. Jim McDowell is the owner of the company and is easy to work with and takes pride in doing the job right (not cutting corners/taking short cuts). He had to build part of a wall out to accommodate the change from fiberglass to tile, plus I added some additional tiling during the process. I will hire McDowell's again if/when the need arises and highly recommend him for your bathroom tiling (or remodel - he can handle more than the tiling if you wish)."

"Dan was a pleasure to deal with. The quote was very competitive. He was quick, neat and did a great job. We had recently installed new cabinets and new paint in the bathroom, and Dan was able to do all of the work without disturbing any of the work we had done.

"Could not be happier with the work. The installed new cabinets, handles plumbing, skimmed the walls, added floor tiles and fixed the ceiling. Cleaned up everyday and always arrived promptly at 8. Great group to work with!"

"I've worked with Duane for several years, in two houses, on many different-sized projects. From bathroom tile repair, to ceiling fan installation. Flooring (carpet, wood, tile) installation, kitchen remodel (counters, lighting, back splash tile), bathroom remodels (counters, lighting), wall painting, changing exterior and interior door locks/hardware, installing new exterior door. And soon will be starting another project to replace a shower stall with tile. The work is always done in a timely manner. I trust Duane and TBS to give me the best quality and workmanship for a reasonable price. The workmen are reliable and trustworthy. That's why I keep going back!"

"It went very well. Gary kept to contract and schedule and built a solid old-fashioned product. He also was willing to look at and install a few newer things such as mini-split and waterless water heater. I enjoyed him and his peeps."

"Doug and his team were incredible! They were so kind, very knowledgable, on-time, and the work is flawless. Our pipes burst in our kitchen causing a lot of drywall damage, they installed new drywall, color matched our current paint, and painted the walls and ceilings. It looks great and was completed ahead of schedule."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Flooring transition strips can be secured to the subfloor using glue, nails, or screws. For a more secure installation, especially in high-traffic areas, using screws or nails is recommended as it reduces the risk of slippage. However, if aesthetic appeal is a priority, glue provides a cleaner, more seamless finish without any visible holes or screw heads.

For best results, you should remove the toilet in a bathroom before removing tile or installing new tile. If you don’t remove the toilet, it will be harder to fully waterproof the tile around the toilet, which could increase the risk of mold growth or plumbing leaks. If you have trouble removing the toilet, hire a plumber to help.

The best bathroom floor tiles are strong enough to withstand the weight of a clawfoot tub. However, professional tile installation is essential. If the tiles are uneven or improperly fixed, they may crack under the pressure. Be careful when installing the tub—if it drops or drags on the tiles, it could easily cause scratches or cracks.

Yes, tiling a bathroom is a great way to boost your home's value, especially if you are replacing old or dated flooring. Adding a new tile floor can deliver a return on investment (ROI) of around 56.4%, with some projects offering up to 100% ROI. Buyers appreciate new tile because it provides a modern look and is known for being durable, water-resistant, low-maintenance, and easy to clean. For the best results and highest return, consider hiring a professional, as tiling mistakes can be very noticeable and detract from the value.

Whether you use a brush or roller depends on the size, shape, and amount of tiles. Rollers are easier to maneuver over large areas and can apply a more even coat of paint in a shorter time frame with no visible brushstrokes. Brushes are best for precision work, particularly in very small areas. If you don't want visible brushstrokes on your painted tiles, you can paint details with small foam brushes instead of bristled paint brushes.
