"I am very pleased with the results. The existing fiberglass shower was removed, as well as the ceramic tile in other area of bathroom. I purchased the tile which was my choice, McDowell Tile would have done that if that was my desire. Subway tile (4" x12") was installed floor to ceiling, octagon tile on the shower floor, and 12" x 12" floor tile on the remaining bath area. Jim McDowell is the owner of the company and is easy to work with and takes pride in doing the job right (not cutting corners/taking short cuts). He had to build part of a wall out to accommodate the change from fiberglass to tile, plus I added some additional tiling during the process. I will hire McDowell's again if/when the need arises and highly recommend him for your bathroom tiling (or remodel - he can handle more than the tiling if you wish)."

"Dan was a pleasure to deal with. The quote was very competitive. He was quick, neat and did a great job. We had recently installed new cabinets and new paint in the bathroom, and Dan was able to do all of the work without disturbing any of the work we had done.

"Could not be happier with the work. The installed new cabinets, handles plumbing, skimmed the walls, added floor tiles and fixed the ceiling. Cleaned up everyday and always arrived promptly at 8. Great group to work with!"

"I've worked with Duane for several years, in two houses, on many different-sized projects. From bathroom tile repair, to ceiling fan installation. Flooring (carpet, wood, tile) installation, kitchen remodel (counters, lighting, back splash tile), bathroom remodels (counters, lighting), wall painting, changing exterior and interior door locks/hardware, installing new exterior door. And soon will be starting another project to replace a shower stall with tile. The work is always done in a timely manner. I trust Duane and TBS to give me the best quality and workmanship for a reasonable price. The workmen are reliable and trustworthy. That's why I keep going back!"

"It went very well. Gary kept to contract and schedule and built a solid old-fashioned product. He also was willing to look at and install a few newer things such as mini-split and waterless water heater. I enjoyed him and his peeps."

"Doug and his team were incredible! They were so kind, very knowledgable, on-time, and the work is flawless. Our pipes burst in our kitchen causing a lot of drywall damage, they installed new drywall, color matched our current paint, and painted the walls and ceilings. It looks great and was completed ahead of schedule."

FAQs for backsplash installation projects in Hamburg, MI

The average cost of installing tile is around $2,000, ranging between $400 and $6,500, depending on the type of tile, square footage of tile, and whether or not your tiling contractor performs site preparation, like removing old tile. On average, you can expect to pay between $5 and $45 per square foot, largely depending on the type and quality of the tiles you choose. For example, ceramic and travertine tile cost about $1 per square foot, but luxury tile options like marble cost up to $350 per square foot, not including labor.

The cost of home remodeling is $50,000 for the average homeowner. However, this cost can range anywhere from $3,000 for a small project to $170,000 for a whole home remodel. Factors like project size, location, and room type all affect your overall cost. For example, bedroom remodeling costs are one of the least expensive projects, costing about $1,500 to $5,500 per bedroom. However, a kitchen remodel has a significant cost range, totaling anywhere from $14,500 to over $70,000.

Yes, most states require home remodeling contractors to be licensed, and for good reason. Hiring an unlicensed home remodeling contractor could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

Tile will almost always last longer than laminate flooring, regardless of the type of tile installed. Porcelain tile can last for 75 years or more with proper care, and even less durable ceramic tile will last for 60 years or more, provided they’re installed by a tile professional. On the other hand, laminate flooring has an average lifespan of around 20 years, and you might only get 10 to 15 years out of low-cost laminate flooring. As such, tile will add far more value to your home than laminate.

The cost to install countertops is $3,105 on average. This project cost can range from $400 to $8,500, depending on the material, edging, and countertop size.

Laminate countertops are generally the most cost-efficient, ranging from $8 to $27 per square foot. On the other hand, slate countertops are considered more luxurious and range from $30 to $90 per square foot. There are also countertop materials priced between those two, including stainless steel, granite, Corian, and wood.
