"Built to Last Construction was recommended to my husband and me by his brother. They remodeled my bother-in law's kitchen and built him a beautiful deck, which is featured on their website at https://www.b2lconstruction.com. We hired them to remodel our kitchen. It turned out beautiful. Tom even built pull out drawers for my cupboard panty and added a heat vent along the floor. The extra time and detail they took to get it just right was amazing. I recommended them to a friend who is keeping them busy with projects at her home. My friend recommended them to someone else who has had a hard time finding someone to update her deck. She will not be disappointed."

Pool Table Assembly questions, answered by experts

A major mistake during pool construction and installation is ignoring the 42-inch frost depth. Contractors must install footings below the frost line to prevent the structure from heaving and cracking. Homeowners also err by skipping mandatory building permits and homeowner association approvals. Finally, failing to specify freeze-resistant plumbing and winterization ports leaves your equipment vulnerable to severe damage during the freezing MI winters.

Helpful?

Schedule pool construction and installation in late winter to ensure completion before the short summer season begins. Grand Blanc requires building permits before excavation, and local homeowner associations take up to 60 days for approval. Wait until spring thaws to assess the clay-heavy soil and begin digging. Excavation must happen between late April and October to avoid frozen ground complications.

Helpful?

Look for visible cracking along the walls, shifting coping stones, or uneven decking. These signs indicate the original pool construction and installation failed to account for deep frost lines in Grand Blanc. Gaps between the shell and surrounding deck point to poor soil compaction. You should also watch for daily water loss exceeding one-quarter inch, which points to structural cracks or failing underground plumbing that requires immediate replacement.

Helpful?

Make pool construction and installation safer by installing a 48-inch fence with self-closing gates to meet state codes. You must use anti-entrapment drain covers to protect children. Plan your layout to keep the water at least 10 feet away from property lines and play areas. Finally, purchase a winter cover rated for heavy MI snow loads to prevent dangerous collapses, and contact the utility marking service before digging.

Helpful?

Assess your electrical panel before pool construction and installation, as equipment requires a dedicated 240V circuit. Older Grand Blanc homes with 100-amp service require an electrical upgrade. Verify your private well capacity to ensure it supports the heavy water demand. Keep excavation far away from private septic systems to prevent collapsed leach lines. Plan proper drainage systems to prevent water from backing up through the local clay-heavy soil.
