"I was referred by the hardware store Pro Program for Master Electrician to do some projects we needed accomplished. Skeptical at first; Then, I received a call about 15 minutes later after submitting my proposed project. John, the Master Electrician with Calvary Electric with over 20+ years of experience, said to me, I am extremely busy but I promise, I will work you in within the week. Only two days later, he shows up and is ready to install (2) ceiling fans, switches, run additional electrical lines, etc. John broke everything down, step-by-step for us, what our options are and the exact price it would take to get the projects completed. Then, he noticed I was wearing a Marine Combat-Wounded cover. He said, you are a Vet I see, that is an automatic 10% off I told him he did not need to do that and he said, When I do a job, I look for discounts for the people that request my services, it is the least I can do. I was shocked. We talked a little more and my wife, Rachel and I, made a decision and John got right to work. During the install, he gave continuous updates on where he was and what he was doing. After the project was completed, we did a walk through together (John, Rachel, and Myself) and we were shocked at how outstanding it turned out! He showed us both fan features, how he changed the switches around, so it would be easier for us to control. Then, Joh cleaned up the work areas he had been in. It was cleaner after John left than it was before he arrived. He shook both of our hands, thanked me for my Service, and told us if you have any issues, any at all, contact me immediately and handed me his business card. In summation, I have been around the world while in the Marines. Met, talked and worked with a lot of different and very passionate people, who love their professions. Back when I was raising two babies, my husband and I started a plumbing company, an electrical company, AND a heating and air company. Mr. Michael is a genius with tools, but he did NOT enjoy running 3 big companies, so he asked me to do it. Turns out, I LOVE it!! I believe that if we make your problems disappear quick and easy, then when someone you know needs something repaired you’ll say: “I’ve got a guy! . . . Her name is Mrs. Michael.”

"I called Mrs.Michael plumbing and electrician on a Sunday and was told the service call would cost $129. However, I wasn?t informed that the $129 only covered the technician?s arrival. Once on-site, I was told diagnosing the issue would be an additional $450 ? and that price only covered two outlets, with anything else costing extra. I?ve rented homes for over 30 years, and I?ve never encountered such misleading pricing practices."

The amount of time a standby generator can run continuously is around 3,000 hours on average. However, standby generators can generally run indefinitely as long as they have a continuous fuel supply. Generators hooked up to a home’s natural gas supply are the best option for extended usage, as these won’t rely on a finite fuel supply based on how much you have in storage. Generators running on liquid propane or diesel won’t last as long, as these require fuel storage and regular refueling to stay running.

In many cases, you’ll need a permit or basic inspection to install one of these large generators. Since they include significant alterations to your home electrical system and many produce exhaust fumes, local governments often require jumping through a few hoops for general safety purposes. Your installer may be able to help you with these permits.

When installed and used correctly, generators are safe to use. The most critical generator safety tips to keep in mind are:

  • Never use a portable generator inside an enclosed space, as the carbon monoxide exhaust it creates is lethal.

  • Never attempt to connect your generator to your home’s electrical panel independently; hire a professional for this dangerous job.

  • Never overload your generator by connecting more appliances than for which it’s rated; you can damage your generator and appliances or even cause a fire.
