"Called in the morning to schedule removal of two 30 foot arborvites. They said it could be done that day. By 5:00 pm the trees were gone, the area was cleaned up and the trees were hauled away in a very timely manner. Would highly recommend for tree / landscaping work."

"I can't say enough about my experience with Woodchoppers Tree Service. From the start to the finish, nothing but exceptional. Jeremy was the first contact I received and was here within 30 minutes to review our requirements. We discussed what was needed with his experieced input. He gave me a written quote before leaving. I called him back to schedule the work which would be about 2 weeks later. Within a few days Jeremy contacted me to say he could come sooner if it worked for me. We agreed on a date, he sent a message to confirm. On the scheduled date he sent me a message advising of his arrival time. Upon arrival he and his crew immediately went to work trimming a maple tree, a large magnolia tree and removing a crabapple tree then grinding the tree stump leaving nothing on the ground to be picked up. Done within an hour and a half. Great job and very fair price. Will call him again for all future tree work."

Small jobs welcome

"Steve is pretty amazing and extremely quick to help me get the job done in under 24 hours. I have worked with a lot of individuals, independent contractors, and even some of the large companies. I would have thought I would ever work with some like him as many are on there time schedule or late even as far as never show up as promised. I can absolutely say this that I would never receive timely, quality work and an individual like Steve from Speedy Stump, LLC. If you need help in removing a tree stump, you’ll never regret hiring this gentleman and his company"

"They have done multiple trees and stumps at my house. Always on time, clean up. Very reasonable on price. Well over 10 trees and 15 stumps so far. Will continue to hire them for any tree work."

"The Drop Zone team was priced very comparable to 2 other quotes I received, they were able to schedule the tree removal 3 weeks earlier than the other quotes. The workers showed up on time, cut down the tree and other branches from a nearby tree that were hanging over my roof, protected my lawn and landscaping, did an excellent job of cleaning up the work site, and were personable to deal with."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

You may need permission to take a tree down. Check with your local ordinances about rules regarding tree removal and to gain any necessary permits. Check with your local ordinances or the fire department if you plan to burn the stump. Make sure you have all the steps in place before removing the tree, or contact a local tree removal service.

Removing tree stumps is a dangerous and complex job that requires a high level of expertise. Many landscapers specialize in general lawn care and maintenance. But, some may have the proper licensing and qualifications needed to safely remove tree stumps. In most cases, though, landscapers will refer you to a local tree removal or stump grinding company.

A tree growing close to a house can pose several risks, but removal isn't always the only or best solution. Potential problems include roots growing into the foundation and causing structural cracks, branches damaging the roof or promoting moss growth, and debris clogging gutters, which can lead to water damage. Trees can also provide access for pests and encourage mold. However, a small, healthy tree may not be a problem, and for larger, established trees, strategic trimming can be a cheaper and more beneficial alternative to removal. It is generally recommended to take action for trees within 10 to 20 feet of your home, especially if they are unhealthy or encroaching. Your best bet is to consult a professional arborist who can assess the specific situation and provide expert advice.

While trees can grow in the curb strip between the sidewalk and the street, this placement often poses the problem of interfering with overhead power lines. It’s best to consult your local utility provider and tree planting service before transplanting a tree that might grow into power lines. Also, you should never work within 20 feet of a live power line to avoid the risk of electric shock. Tree branches should never touch nearby power lines, so it’s essential to ensure your tree isn’t in danger of growing too close to them.

Some trees will bounce back just fine, and others will struggle and possibly die. Evergreens, for instance, have a very difficult time recovering after droughts and usually die after periods of extreme dryness. Usually, you’ll have to just wait and see—if the drought occurs in wintertime, it’s possible that your tree will recover during the gentler springtime.
