"The installer was very polite and did a good job with the shower/tub conversion to a walk-in shower. The install process was relatively smooth and quiet with minimal interruption to our house. I am glad I hired BathPlanet to do the install."

"I didnt need a remodel, which I clearly stated in my request... not the only company that called offering services that would only help AFTER I found someone to put in pipes for a unexisting bathroom."

"Getting a walk in tub is expensive no matter who you use. My experience thus far is with installation only and I must say my install went great. It has been over a month and no issues with my tub so I cannot comment on repair process with American Standard."

"The serviceman was very friendly and professional acting. We did have him come back because a ceiling fan he installed was wobbly. He said the box it was attached to wasn't big enough and would have to be replaced. It would have saved his time if he had asked to do that while doing the work. Also, he didn't clean up the floor in the area's where he drilled into the wall. My dad was a craftsman, and I was just always taught a good worker cleans up after themselves. Overall his work was good, and he is very business like. I appreciated how quickly he was able to come out and do the work."

"When our tub cracked, in a single bath home with a 1 year old child, we needed a quick replacement. I called Josh and he was able to get out next day to take measurements to make sure the right tub was ordered. While waiting for the tub to be delivered he was able to get all of the old removed, and take care of the new plumbing all in a timely manner. 3 days after I called Josh, our new tub was in and walls were finished. Thankful for a quick, quality fix."

Tub Shower Conversion FAQs, answered by experts

A walk-in shower without a door is referred to as a barrier-free shower or doorless walk-in shower. This feature makes the shower more accessible for people with disabilities, but it can also be attractive for minimalist designs because of the clean lines. A doorless walk-in shower also means one less surface to clean, but they can have downsides like splashing water and a lack of privacy, so do your research first.

Most shower arms are ½-inch national pipe thread (NPT). It’s best to check the thread size before buying a new shower arm or showerhead to ensure everything will fit together once you’re ready to install. Remember that older homes or those outside North America may not have standard pipe or thread sizes, which can complicate installation and make it more important to check the thread size before buying.

Whether converting a tub to a shower is worth it depends on your personal circumstances and priorities. For many, a shower is a safer option that reduces the risk of slip-and-fall accidents, making it a valuable upgrade. It can also be a worthwhile conversion if a shower is more practical for your lifestyle and you rarely use the tub. However, there are potential downsides to consider. The cost, which can range from $1,200 to $8,000, can be a deterrent. Additionally, if you have young children, a bathtub is often easier for bathing them. Finally, removing the only bathtub in a home can potentially lower its resale value in the eyes of some buyers.

A bathroom without a bathtub is called a half bath or powder room. This type of bathroom commonly contains a toilet and a sink and is smaller than a standard bathroom that includes a bathtub or shower. Half baths or powder rooms are commonplace on the first story of a home and are ideal as a guest toilet.

You should replace your showerhead if you notice issues like low or inconsistent water pressure, leaks, rust, sediment buildup, or mold. These signs often point to internal problems that cleaning cannot fix and can even pose health risks, particularly in the case of black mold. You can also replace a showerhead at any time for an aesthetic upgrade or to get more features.

A new showerhead offers several benefits. It can improve water pressure while conserving water, save money by stopping leaks, and enhance your bathroom's appearance. It's an easy and affordable way to improve your showering experience. For more functionality, consider models with additional spray settings or a detachable head.

Note that some symptoms may indicate larger problems. For instance, significant sediment buildup could mean you need a water softener, and persistent low water pressure might signal an issue with your water heater.
