"Keagan did an awesome job hot-filling all the cracks in our driveway and then sealing it with two coats of sealer! The driveway looks fantastic and I am very sure I will get multiple years of service from this one seal job! He was on tiume and budget, and left everything as neat and clean as you could ever want - I highly recommend him!"

"We hired them in August 2017 for a complete asphalt driveway replacement. Owners were very nice and worked with us. Came in and had the job done within a week. I was totally impressed then. A year later, the edge of the third stall parking is crumbling and is very thin. Just this summer (06/2018) I had a contractor come by to do other work around my home and he told me that my drive looks old and needs sealed. He could not believe it was only one year old. Its frustrating to think I spent all that money on a good looking drive for less than one year."

Driveway Sealcoating questions, answered by experts

DIY sealants exist, but professional application ensures uniform coverage and long-term durability.

What causes driveways to crack can vary by driveway material. Sealcoating with the right formula creates a protective "shell" over a driveway. Resealing a driveway on schedule helps to preserve its lifespan substantially by keeping it protected against damage from UV rays, motor oil, chemicals, hail, rain, snow, and more. If you don't reseal your driveway, this will lead to brittleness, cracking, and potholes that can eventually cause your driveway to fall apart.

Though they may look similar, tar and bitumen come from different sources. Bitumen is a petroleum product—extracted during crude oil refining—and is mostly made up of hydrocarbons. Tar comes from burning down organic materials like coal or wood. Bitumen is strictly oil-based, while tar is a mix of compounds from natural sources. Both are used as binders in paving; however, bitumen is the standard for today’s asphalt. Tar use has mostly faded out of road construction.

If you don’t want to seal the entire driveway using a squeegee, you can use a roller instead. Rolling the driveway sealer also provides an even, sufficient coating, although it might require more skills to control the speed and pressure. We don’t recommend spraying the driveway sealer because it would cause more splash, hence wasting more material. If anything, you may spray the sealant and go over the surface again with a squeegee to ensure proper coating.

Sealcoating asphalt costs $0.14 to $0.25 per square foot. Doing so prevents erosion in harsh weather and keeps your asphalt from cracking or getting potholes. It’s a good idea to hire a professional sealcoating company with positive reviews to do this work rather than do it yourself.
