Never pour used motor oil down the drain. Doing so can have serious environmental consequences, including contaminating groundwater, endangering animals, and killing vegetation. It can also clog your pipes, causing backups in your plumbing or the wastewater treatment plant. In most places, pouring motor oil down the drain is illegal, whether you do it in your home or a storm drain.

Inspect regularly for clogs, clean drain lines, and ensure grading directs water away from the foundation.

Ejector pumps can only push sewage 750 feet or less. That’s because their purpose is to move waste from your home to your sewer line—which is a relatively short distance. Wait for 15 minutes, and then run hot water (but not boiling water) down the drain to see if the clog is clear. Repeat multiple times as needed.
