"Zach called within minutes of us reaching out to get these pesky oak stumps we’ve had for years in our lawn gone. Zach was very reasonable and had arrived within the day we set for him to begin work. He arrived and left within 2 hours, Zach even piled up the wood-chips all in the old stumps locations. My yard was covered in chips and with his blower it was back to normal. Highly recommend!"

"We are VERY PLEASED with Hamby Empire services! They arrived ON TIME. They phoned in the morning, and were here in the afternoon at the time as promised! They were efficient, helpful, fast, respectful of property AND FRIENDLY!! They arrived with an empty trailer and an empty truckbed and gave us an estimate on the spot and then got to work. All around - a good experience. Thank You! Well Done! HIGHLY RECOMMEND HAMBY EMPIRE."

"Could not have been more pleased. Jeramiah is very knowledgable and patiently helped me research and find the right trees that suited my personal preferences and my space. He even came around the next year to check on the trees to be sure they were doing well. Two years after the planting, trees are still going strong! Jeramiah is truly customer focused."

"I personally feel like he does an amazing job on tree cutting, trimming, stump grinding. He is on time, very reasonable price range, and overall very friendly. If you tell him what you want done, he does it exactly right and maybe even better. I do stump grinding for him and sometimes chipping brush, and all the neighbors stand by and watch with a smile on there faces, an then later that week he gets a call from a few of the neighbors. He sets a good example for me and the 3 other high school workers along with the adults. But I definitely recommend M and M tree service if you want the job done right and fast"

"I had a great experience with the Urban Woodsman Tree Service. They were doing work on my neighbor trees. I spoke with them about a dead tree on my property. They agreed to cut it down same day for a fair price! Very quick and neat with their work. Will contact for future work on trees!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Grinding down a tree helps reduce the risk of foundation damage and pests and even helps your home’s curb appeal. Stumps can also be a safety hazard. If grass grows above the stump and someone else mows your yard, they may be in for a rude awakening when they accidentally hit it.

All of the tree root removal methods mentioned above are effective on any kind of root, whether it’s still growing or simply needs a gentle nudge to finish decomposing. The only difference is that larger roots tend to be harder to remove and may require multiple chemical treatments as well as manual labor to eradicate.

There are several methods to hollow out a tree stump, and the best one depends on your tools, experience, and priorities. Common methods include using a chisel and hammer, a chainsaw, or burning.

  • Chisel and Hammer: This is often considered the easiest approach for those with limited tools or experience, though it is the most time-consuming.

  • Chainsaw: Using a chainsaw is the fastest method, but it comes with significant safety risks, especially for inexperienced users.

  • Burning: This can be an effective method, but it is not recommended unless you can first drill holes into the stump. Without holes, the stump will be difficult to light and may not burn completely through.

A power drill with at least a ⅜-inch diameter bit can make the job quicker and easier, regardless of the primary method. While you can use a chisel or chainsaw without a drill, it will require more time and effort. Always wear protective goggles and thick gloves, as splinters are an inevitable risk.

Planting a palm tree close to your home can provide shade while elevating the beauty of your yard. However, there are a few safety concerns to consider before doing so. You’ll want to opt for a smaller tree with a non-invasive root system. Select a species that won’t grow too tall and choose a planting location that won’t damage your home.

Tree roots are hearty and complex systems, so they don’t die immediately after the rest of the tree is removed. If you leave the root system in place, it takes anywhere from two to seven years for it to run out of nutrients. It is worth noting, however, that the roots stop growing and expanding after cutting down the rest of the tree.
