Customers say: True professional

"Jamie and his crew did a great job getting our house painted in a timely matter. We really appreciated the first responder discount we were offered. Jrâ s company did high quality work and made sure we were satisfied with everything at the end of each day. Jr even allowed for us to add on a few little side jobs like fixing a door and some trim removal for generous pricing. Much more personal than going with one of the â big brandâ paint companies. We will definitely be using his services in the future!"

"Nyboer Builders, LLC. completed a major sanctuary ceiling renovation project for us (Grace Lutheran Church) in October of 2015.  This was a daunting construction project, as the vaulted ceiling is about 35 feet above the floor at its peak, and involved the removal of failing paneling and placement of new insulation and paneling and finishing..
We are thrilled with Nyboer's work - aesthetically, economically, and the time frame for completiony.  They have a great, courteous, friendly crew.  Many church members did not imagine that this project could be completed in a week's time, but it was done, and beautifully, with a thorough cleanup afterwards.
We recommend Nyboer Builders, LLC. very highly, with no reservations.  We would turn to them in a jiff.

"Mike anticipated a 6 hour job, but stayed another 4+ hours in order to do all of the additional things we asked of him. He did a BEAUTIFUL and very meticulous job, and cleaned up after he was done. When he was painting the bathroom, he noticed a lack of caulking done around the top of the shower. He took the time to caulk it for us, even though we wouldn't have known if he had NOT done so. I will hire Mike and Gabriel Painting for all jobs I need done in the future; I give his company my highest recommendation."

"Reggie was able to come out and quote the job and fit me into his schedule the following week as I had an urgent need. They arrived on-time and worked efficiently over the two days that were projected. They had to do some wall and ceiling repairs, paint vaulted ceilings and walls of living/dining/kitchen and hall. One patch needed extra attention and Reggie arranged to come back and fixed it to my liking. Overall, great painters, very dependable and efficient. Thanks Lofton Pro Painting!"

"I called this company and spoke to Cheryl on 9/26. We setup a meeting time at 3:30pm Wednesday 9/28. Almost at the meeting time she called me and said she wanted someone else to look at it but they are busy.  She gave me his number and said if I don't hear from him a few days to call him. She was nice the whole time and I was in return.

The problem is I spent my time reaching out to her, we agreed on a time and I planned around that time.  I am a new home owner and setup to have my father-in-law there with me.  So when she called and changed the plans last minute I was dismayed.  I have yet to receive a call from the new referral person."

Popcorn Ceilings questions, answered by experts

As stylish new design options become more popular, modern drop ceiling designs also include metal tiles of tin and copper, which can create a dark, moody atmosphere in your basement bar, home theater, or game room. There are also a variety of modern lighting ideas for drop ceilings, including recessed and surface mount lights.

Priming a popcorn ceiling before painting is a good idea, especially if the ceiling is stained, discolored, or has never been painted. Interior paint primer helps seal the surface, preventing stains from bleeding through and allowing the paint to adhere better. Use a stain-blocking, water-based primer for best results.

Older textures may contain asbestos, requiring careful handling and professional inspection before work begins to ensure safety compliance.

In most cases, it is worth removing popcorn ceilings because they are considered outdated and can make a home more difficult to sell. Buyers typically prefer a smooth, modern finish, so removing the texture can increase a home's value and appeal. The necessity can sometimes depend on the housing market; in a competitive market, buyers may be more willing to overlook minor renovations. The most critical factor is the potential presence of asbestos, which is common in older popcorn ceilings and poses a significant health hazard if the material deteriorates. If you know your ceiling contains asbestos, you are required to disclose this when selling, which can be a major deterrent for buyers. In this situation, it is highly recommended to have a professional remove or encapsulate the ceiling to resolve the issue before it impacts the sale.

The cost to repair a ceiling after a water leak can vary, with averages ranging from $419 to $1,359, or $45 to $55 per square foot. Smaller patches may cost around $150. The final price depends on the size of the affected area and the extent of the damage. Remember that you will also need to repair the source of the leak, such as roof damage or a plumbing issue, which can cost an additional $200 to $1,550. Depending on the situation, you might also face costs for repainting or repairing floors. For an accurate estimate, it is best to get a quote from a professional.
