"Dave is extremely meticulous, reliable and respectful of peopleâ s homes. He always removed his shoes at the door, was friendly with our pets and was as unobtrusive as one can be while working in someoneâ s home. His clean up was first rate. He was easy to talk to and took time to ensure that we were on the same page. Dave also installed legs on a new custom-made hardwood desk top and did a terrific job. I highly recommend Dave."

"These guys are GREAT!! Not only professional but kind and courteous. Our driveway is long and diamond shape, our sidewalks were iced over, time and time again and the crew from 4th and Inches lawn done such a fantastic job, you would have never known our home hadn't been plowed since the beginning of winter. I highly recommend Dennis and his crew. Any job, big or small this crew can handle. Also, Kim the secretary, very professional and kind. We will definetly be using 4th and Inches in the future!! Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

Whether salt melts ice overnight will depend on how low the temperature drops. If temperatures stay around 30 degrees Fahrenheit, you can count on salt melting ice overnight. Otherwise, the lower temperatures get, the less effective the salt is in melting ice, and the more likely you’ll wake up with a slippery driveway the next day.

The fastest and most effective way to remove snow, especially from a driveway, is by using a high-powered, two- or three-stage snow blower, which can clear an area in minutes. Other helpful options include a snow thrower, a wheelbarrow plow, and a leaf blower. If you need immediate assistance, consider hiring a professional snow removal service to handle the job for you.

DIY snow removal is entirely free, except for the cost of a shovel. However, it may not always be the best option for large driveways and areas with heavy snowfall; it’s strenuous work and can take a long time. Other wallet-friendly ways to remove snow include rock salt, hot water, a de-icing agent, or a leaf blower.

Yes—in fact, it’s an important step in how to start a snow blower. Allowing the engine to idle for a few minutes prior to using a snow blower helps it reach its optimal operating temperature, which gets the fuel running properly, improves its performance, and helps prevent stalling during frigid weather.

Ice dam removal costs anywhere from $650 to $2,000, with most people paying about $1,200 for this service. The price you pay will depend on a few factors, including the removal method. If your pro uses salt or tablets to get rid of the ice dams, you might only pay $200 to $300. But if they use steam, your costs could increase to $800 to $1,200.
