"It's a pretty decent system, I think. They send you the pieces and you install them yourself, which is pretty easy. The only real problem I have is that one sensor is too far away from the panel...or there's some interference, and they haven't been able to fix that. It's an interior door, so it's not the end of the world, just a little annoying. Their customer service is pretty good though. Nice, smart customer service people on the other end, very polite and helpful."

Chimney Inspection questions, answered by experts

Unfortunately, there’s no definitive answer to this question, but the wind rating of your shingles will give you a good idea of what wind speeds can damage your roof. If you’re concerned about damage, inspect your roof following windy conditions to look for signs of wind damage to your shingles. When in doubt, consider hiring a professional who fixes roofs to carry out an expert inspection. Remember that hurricanes, tropical storms, and tornadoes are likely to cause the most damage, but even severe thunderstorms can bring winds that compromise your roofing system.

It’s possible to walk on a clay tile roof, but you run the risk of breaking or cracking the tiles if you’re not careful, so it’s best not to walk on it if you can avoid it. If you or a contractor needs roof access, be sure to distribute your weight evenly and step on the portions of tile that are also supported underneath, which depends on your tile design. Walking on any roofing material is inherently dangerous, so wear rubber-soled shoes and use safety equipment if you need to access your roof.

Regular cleaning, promptly repairing minor issues, ensuring proper drainage, and using rust-resistant coatings help prevent recurring damage.

Roof inspections can be dangerous, especially if you aren’t used to working at heights or lack proper safety equipment. Professional contractors have the right tools and gear to conduct inspections safely. Inspectors systematically approach roof inspections, ensuring that every aspect of your roof is thoroughly examined.

Remember, DIY inspections are not a substitute for professional assessments. If you notice any issues or are unsure about the condition of your roof, it’s always best to consult a professional roofing contractor near you.

Metal roofs are more resistant to hail than other types of roof materials; however, hail can still damage a metal roof. The extent of the damage depends on the size of the hail and the severity of the hail storm. The type of damage a metal roof can get from hail includes dents, scratches, loose fasteners, leaks, and cracked paint.
