"Another contractor had moved things around so much, that it botched my previously scheduled insulation appointment with another insulation company. In a panic, I reached out and was properly given an estimate work completed within days. They arrived earlier than first estimated and that was more than welcome. Handled with care and our property was protected and insulated with care."

"Reaching out to Building Performance Solutions, they were very quick to respond. They were able to quote me based on describing what type of insulation I was looking for along with a floor plan drawling . The price that was quoted to me was a great price. What I really appreciated was that they could perform both the Wall injections along with the cellulose insulation. The Installation went great. The team showed up on-time. The team was very professional, prior to blowing in the cellulose the team installed soffit covers to allow the attic to continue to breath. The team did a great job of getting the entire attic covered to the appropriate thickness. Wall injections went smoothly as well. The only snag I ran into was that the wall injection was water-based took a really long time to dry (~4-5 weeks) and had a smell for a while. The reason it took a while to dry is because I had the walls insulated during the middle of summer when the air was the most humid. Best thing to do is to get fans, Open the garage doors and leave them open all day. Eventually the smell went away after the insulation dried. During the drying time, Building Performance Solutions worked with me to explain the insulation drying time. I would highly recommend Building Performance Solutions for insulation."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

In Detroit, insulation projects may reveal hidden issues like outdated electrical wiring, pest infestations, or moisture damage, especially in older homes. Additional costs can arise from necessary air sealing, vapor barrier upgrades, or repairs to wood framing. Homes near vacant lots may need extra pest control. Addressing these issues ensures your insulation investment delivers long-term energy efficiency and indoor air quality improvements.

Helpful?

Insulating your Detroit home provides immediate benefits like improved comfort and reduced drafts, especially during harsh winters and humid summers. Over time, you’ll notice lower utility bills, enhanced indoor air quality, and less strain on your HVAC system. Proper insulation also helps control moisture, reduces outside noise, and supports a healthier, more energy-efficient home environment in Detroit’s variable climate.

Helpful?

In Detroit, most insulation service projects are completed within one to seven days, depending on the type and size of the space. Attic insulation can often be finished in one to two days, while wall or crawl space insulation may take up to four days. Whole-home retrofits, especially in older Detroit homes, can require a week due to prep work and weather-related delays.

Helpful?

Upgrading insulation in Detroit can make your home more attractive to buyers seeking energy efficiency and comfort. Well-insulated homes often sell faster and may appeal to buyers looking for lower utility bills and improved indoor air quality. Enhanced insulation also helps your property stand out in Detroit’s market, where energy efficiency and reduced environmental impact are increasingly important to homeowners.

Helpful?

Insulation in Detroit homes should be checked annually for signs of settling, moisture intrusion, or rodent activity, particularly after severe weather. Inspect attic and crawl space ventilation to prevent mold and ice dams. Every few years, have a professional assess the insulation’s R-value and condition. Promptly address any leaks or damage to maintain optimal energy efficiency and indoor comfort throughout the year.
