"Ethan delivers exceptional service with outstanding attention to detail. He truly respects your belongings, schedule, and personal needs, making the entire process seamless. What impressed me most was his expertise in color selection—I’m incredibly indecisive, but he used his professional experience to recommend three perfect options tailored to my space. His guidance made all the difference for our home. After being blown away by his interior work, I hired him again for the exterior. He pressure washed, sanded, and stained our aging deck, even replacing rotted boards, transforming it into something that looks brand new. He also pressure washed and cleaned the entire exterior of our home, including the roof, with phenomenal results. Ethan’s professionalism and skill were so impressive that I’ve since hired him for my investment properties and rental units. His work speaks for itself—high-quality, reliable, and thorough. 10/10 recommend! Outstanding business!"

"David was incredibly responsive and had great customer service. He cares about the customer being satisfied with the job. The deck turned out very nice. (note: I was a tiny bit worried about the painter diluting the stain (oil based) with water but it seems this is something that's sometimes done when using a sprayer. I do wish it was diluted with mineral based solution vs water but everything seemed to turn out well and I'm happy with my deck)"

"our 2nd story deck was taken down by tree during the awful 2023 ice storm in Kalamazoo. Mike, the company's owner at JRD, was very down to earth and helpful, explained our options with out trying to oversell anything. He immediately returned calls and addressed any concerns on the spot. The two contractors in charge of completing the work, Curtis Doyle and partner Joe, were nothing short of amazing! It was a very challenging project with canterlevered supports needing replacement, a deck with various heights that needed railings installed in a completely custom made way. Truly impressive! They were not only 100% professional, they were very friendly, respectful of our property, totally reliable and caring, easing our mind over any concern, always taking the time to explain things and checking with us before proceeding until we were happy and reassured. Honestly, it was a pleasure to have these young men work in our home projects. Do not hesitate for a second to hire this company and ask for Curtis and Joe to do your remodeling or repairs."

"The TRuePro painter did a outstanding job of painting my summer cottage. He paid a great of attention to details after doing a power wash. He then did a very excellent job using a paint roller and a brush making sure to cover every portion of wood surface involved. The result was my "old" cottage looked new again! I would highly recommend the painter and his work!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Applying a sealer or topcoat after staining wood is highly recommended, though not always strictly required. A sealer protects the wood from moisture, UV rays, and weather-related issues, which is especially important for outdoor surfaces like decks and fences. It also enhances the stain's durability, prevents fading over time, and gives the wood a cleaner, more professional-looking finish. For some indoor applications, a sealer may not be necessary, depending on the type of stain used and the level of protection needed. It's always best to check the stain manufacturer's recommendations and consider the wood's intended use and exposure when deciding whether to apply a sealer.

The plastic in composite decking boards protects them enough that you do not need to paint them to prevent warping. In fact, painting composite decking voids the warranty of some manufacturers. Painting can also increase maintenance on the deck, as you must paint regularly to keep it looking its best.

Essential tools include brushes or rollers, drop cloths, sandpaper or power sanders, and appropriate cleaning supplies. Quality materials ensure long-lasting results.

An exterior paint job typically lasts between 5 and 10 years, though this can range from 3 to 17 years depending on several factors. The longevity is influenced by the quality of the paint and primer, the quality of the application, the local climate, and the type of surface being painted. For example, paint on wood siding may need to be redone every 3 to 7 years, while painted brick can last up to 17 years. Aluminum siding often needs repainting every 5 years.

Many decking oils can help slow down algae growth, but they don't completely stop it. These oils work by sealing the wood, which reduces moisture and, therefore, algae growth. Some decking oils also help protect against UV damage, but they need to be reapplied according to the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure the decking stays protected.
