"We recently had Rolland Cement do our stamped concrete pool deck and some driveway/sidewalk tear out and replacement. Rolland did our stamped concrete patio a couple years ago and it was awesome so we wanted to match it at the pool. Greg and his crew did not disappoint and the job came out exactly how we hoped. We would highly recommend Rolland Cement for any of your concrete needs."

"This was a custom job. I needed a concrete pad for an antenna tower. Many companies would not quote it saying that is was too small of a job. They responded quickly, gave me a fair priced quote, and finished the job when they said they would. They went the extra mile to make sure I was done right and that I was satisfied."

"They were very good, and were the most affordable. Tony was very knowledgeable, and did a very nice job sealing it because they also had to seal the concrete against my brick wall, and actually did it beveled so it'd look nice."

"I had a sad looking red/brown brick fireplace which i had resurfaced with stone. I chose the terra cotta color. This is a stone veneer of slate/quartzite. The results were beautiful. Sean and his partner Jennifer came promptly at the stated time. Sean is master at his job and a real perfectionist. The finished job was more than I could have asked for. The price was excellent too. I took advantage of one of their advertised Angies list specials and I'm glad I did. Both Sean and Jennifer were friendly and professional. They cleaned up all around the fireplace when they were through."

Concrete Resurfacing questions, answered by experts

The biggest downside to resurfacing concrete is its lifespan. Concrete resurfacing lasts for five to ten years, on average, while a new concrete slab would last for 20 to 30. The cost of concrete resurfacing is much lower, but you get more value from full replacement. Resurfacing also doesn’t address any underlying issues with your slab, so you may need additional repairs, like mudjacking.

Although some concrete cracks are cosmetic, others can be more serious. Cracks wider than ⅛ inch or that extend through the slab are serious and can cause structural damage. If you notice these types of cracks in your concrete patio, contact a local contractor who installs concrete patios to inspect the damage and determine how to fix it.

If the cracks in your concrete patio are cosmetic, you can pour a concrete overlay over the patio to cover them up. However, you shouldn’t cover more severe cracks because the underlying damage will simply cause new cracks to appear in the overlay. Patio repair costs $750 to $2,500, depending on the type of repairs and the extent of the damage.

Self-leveling concrete is the best option for your garage floor since it guarantees an even surface in the end. However, most garage floors weren’t made with self-leveling concrete. You don’t need to fully replace the garage floor to use self-leveling concrete. A quarter-to-half-inch of self-leveling concrete on top of your existing floor will be sufficient for a smooth and even finish.

Yes, adding a patio or other concrete feature can increase your property taxes, particularly if it's considered a permanent improvement. The general rule is that if the project requires a permit, your property taxes will likely go up.

Permanent structures like a poured concrete patio are considered capital improvements that require a permit, which will trigger a reassessment of your property's value. Other concrete projects that typically increase taxes include:

  • Pool decks

  • Walkways

  • Driveways

  • Steps

  • Foundations

In contrast, 'temporary' installations, such as a paver or flagstone patio, may not require a permit and are less likely to affect your property taxes.

Permit costs for a concrete patio can range from $75 to $200. While the tax increase varies based on your location and the project's size, it is often a minimal amount. Always contact your local building department before starting a project to confirm permit requirements and any potential impact on your taxes.
