Small jobs welcome

"We moved into our Thornapple River waterfront home, located in Caledonia, in August 2020. A complete/extensive renovation was planned, which included interior painting of all rooms, cabinets, doors, etc...After obtaining multiple quotes, as well as reading several reviews, we made the decision to award our business to Barney & his team at Bruinsma Decorating. Their quality of work is excellent, the respect Barney & his team showed us & our home throughout this major project was very much appreciated and we will recommend Bruinsma Decorating to anyone. Like any major renovation job, not everything went according to plan. However, when items had to be addressed/resolved, Barney was prompt in doing so, to our satisfaction. A very big job, well done!...Thanks to Barney, Aaron & Andy for stepping up and meeting our demands & expectations."

"As a female homeowner, I felt so comfortable having the kitchen tune-up crew in my home! They were professional, clean, knowledgeable, and offered advice and suggestions. I am beyond pleased with the final kitchen design. My cabinets are beautiful and I now have kitchen organization systems, and an updated look. So so happy! Cannot wait to have the family and friends over. Thank you Nick, Tessia, and team!"

"The staff was friendly and professional however there appeared to have been a disconnect with the communication between the team which resulted in the kitchen sink not being secured, areas missing caulk and small section of my cabinets chipped off. These issues may stem from me being told that from one team that when the other team comes out, they will take care of it and when that team arrives, them stating "they don't do that". There are teams that work on taking the doors to the warehouse, countertop installers, etc..etc."

Kitchen Cabinet Refacing questions, answered by experts

It is cheaper to paint kitchen cabinets than to replace them. Painting costs range from $400 to $1,300, based on the size and complexity of the project and the average costs in your area. In contrast, replacing kitchen cabinets can cost several thousand dollars, including materials, installation, and potential modifications to countertops and plumbing.

No, in most cases, you do not have to remove your countertops to reface cabinets. Since refacing primarily involves updating the doors, drawer fronts, and exterior surfaces, your existing countertops can usually stay right where they are, making the process quicker and less disruptive. However, if your counters prevent the access needed to remove doors and drawers, they may need to be temporarily removed. It's best to consult with a professional cabinet contractor to assess your specific kitchen layout during an estimate.

Refinishing cabinets requires sanding and restoring them with paint, lacquer, or stain. Refacing cabinets involves removing and replacing existing cabinet doors and hardware. Refacing cabinets can be more costly. Refacing cabinets typically costs between $4,500 to $10,600

How much cheaper it is to replace your cabinet doors depends on your needs. If you’re looking to spruce up the look and feel of your kitchen, then you can make cosmetic adjustments to your existing doors, like installing new knobs or a fresh coat of paint. Cabinets can be some of the most costly parts of a kitchen remodel, but if there’s structural damage regarding your doors, then replacing them is your best option.

Yes, as long as the doors match the dimensions of your old cabinets and use compatible hinges. This method works best if you are using similar materials and door styles that match your existing cupboards. If you’re choosing significantly different materials, like moving from fiberboard to hardwood, then it’s usually best to replace the entire cabinet.
