"John with RagStar was amazing! I am new to the area and Angi’s is the first place I go to and it was through Angi that I found John. John is honest, timely, and committed to his craft. We agreed on the jobs that I needed him to do and he stayed within the timeline he thought he would need. He did a great job and I’m looking forward to hiring him again. Thanks John!"

"Very professional. Wonderful to work with. We hired them to put an addition on our home. They did everything very well : foundation, building the rooms, putting in insulation, drywall, painting, flooring, windows, roofing, plumbing, framing doors and windows, ductwork. They even built raised flower bed structures to go around the outside of the new addition. They are a very talented and skilled company."

Small jobs welcome

"I initially hired Jackson Exteriors to power wash the siding/ driveway of a home I was readying to sell. They were prompt, professional and personable. Upon seeing what I was dealing with, the owner offered to help with other parts of getting the estate in Ada ready. I hired them to haul furniture and dispose hazardous chemicals out of the house as well as paint door trim and carpet cleaning. When my large real estate-recommended contractor fell behind on our timeline, they stepped in once again to work tirelessly over the holiday weekend to finish up a renovation job to ensure the home could be ready for photography and make it to MLS on time. The last part of the project was managed remotely via photo, text and FaceTime with no hinder to the professional process. I gathered there is no job too big or too small that Skyler and his team can't handle. Skyler is very knowledgeable, reasonable and timely with a very positive attitude. I would certainly recommend!"

Handyman Services questions, answered by experts

A contractor specializes in a specific field. They often operate in teams where they have subcontractors to handle specialized problems. So if you have significant plumbing, drywall, or roofing issues, you’ll want to hire a contractor, as the job may require a team.

A handyperson is typically one person who works on whatever jobs come their way. You wouldn’t call a contractor to fix the hinges on cabinets or paint your room. Instead, a handyperson can handle all these issues, saving you from making multiple phone calls.

Pros save time and ensure quality by handling complex tasks and repairs efficiently.

Most contractors do not charge for meetings, but it can depend on the project, mainly if it includes detailed consultations or project planning. For general estimates, homeowners shouldn't expect to be charged. Always ask up front about meeting fees to avoid surprises and ensure you know what’s included in the process.

Tipping contractors, builders, or general contractors is not customary or expected. Unlike many service professions where tipping is built into the payment structure, construction professionals typically charge a full rate for their services. However, you may choose to tip a worker for exceptional service, such as if they go above and beyond, stay late to meet a deadline, or work on a holiday weekend. Before offering a tip, it's a good idea to ask about the company's policy, as some prohibit their employees from accepting gratuities. If you want to show your appreciation for a job well done without giving a cash tip, consider writing a positive online review or offering to serve as a reference for potential new customers.

Almost all houses require soffits. The exception is in houses where you know without a shadow of a doubt there is adequate airflow throughout the entire house including, and most importantly, the attic. Almost all modern homes have soffits installed whether you notice them or not because on most homes, the roof eave extends beyond the walls of the home, naturally creating soffits.
