"We have been homeowners for 40 years and this was probably the best service we have received as homeowners. Their work involved prep and painting on a three story house. They also worked on three different deck areas. They completed all of the items in the contract and also replaced some rotted wood at the top of our house which was discovered by the workers on the roof. We had some questions during the six day process and they were addressed immediately by the owner of the business. Their work on our house was outstanding. Based on our experience, we would highly recommend C & Z Painting."

"Excellent contractor. Project scope included power washing, sanding, prep, deck board replacement, and deck staining. Power washing of 2 barns to prep for painting plus 2 patios. Contractor was extremely well organized and outfitted to run all work in a safe and efficient manner. Highly recommended. 5 stars. Bill H"

"David was incredibly responsive and had great customer service. He cares about the customer being satisfied with the job. The deck turned out very nice. (note: I was a tiny bit worried about the painter diluting the stain (oil based) with water but it seems this is something that's sometimes done when using a sprayer. I do wish it was diluted with mineral based solution vs water but everything seemed to turn out well and I'm happy with my deck)"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

While the answer varies based on weather, 10 a.m. is a good time to start painting. The dew will have dried, meaning there’s no moisture on the house, and the temperature will likely be moderate and the sunlight less direct. Starting mid-morning should also give you enough daylight and pleasant weather to work on the job for several hours.

A properly applied coat of stain will last between 3 and 8 years, depending on your climate. If you live in a place where your fence experiences a lot of moisture or high heat, your stain will last for a shorter period than in more temperate conditions. We recommend reapplying stain every 3 to 5 years to keep your wood in good condition.

You may be wondering: can you paint cement? Fortunately, the answer is yes.

To change the color of your cinder blocks, you have two options. You can either paint them or stain them. Either way, you'll be able to choose from a wide range of color options. Some popular colors for cinder block painting include off-white shades and gray tones, which add a modern spin to the traditional gray blocks.

Stain is meant to be absorbed by the porous wood, allowing some of the natural grain to show through. With that in mind, you don’t want to add more stain than the wood can absorb, as you risk covering up its natural markings. Generally, two coats is the maximum you should do, although very dense hardwoods may only be able to take a single coat.

Yes, beginners can use a paint sprayer, but there is a learning curve. It's important to go slowly, read the instructions thoroughly, and spend some time learning the technique. Watching tutorial videos for your specific paint sprayer model can be very helpful. Before starting your main project, practice on a scrap surface to get used to the sprayer and avoid common issues like overspraying, which can cause drips, bubbles, and other imperfections. For safety, always wear a mask and gloves, and be careful not to touch the sprayer's tip when it's in use, particularly with high-powered airless sprayers.
