"This is the best tree service company I have ever experienced, and i have delt with a few. Their pricing was reasonable, they showed up on time, worked safely and cleaned up beautifully. We had four properties that had tree damage from a storm. Some large trees, close to homes, had dangerous splits up the trunk sections. They engineered the removal in such a way as to have no danger or damage to the homes or surrounding gardens, etc. They took care of all four properties promptly and to the satisfaction of all four homeowners. If you want a professional company with skilled and experienced employees Addison Tree is the company to use. Rick from Oakland Township"

"Very fast response. Affordable quote for high is the price I paid. Personable service and they did a very good job. My tree is tricky to get to. I had tiny garden seedlings growing nearby and there were none harmed which is pretty amazing!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

A tree can grow back from its stump, but full regrowth is unlikely (especially for more stubborn conifer trees). Instead, trees are more likely to send up a number of shoots from the dead stump, which will try to develop into primary stems over time. In other words, it will start to look increasingly bushy. The goal of killing and drying out a tree stump is to prevent that from happening, as well as make the stump easier to completely remove.

Generally speaking, you’ll want to avoid flush cuts, which are cuts made as extremely close to the trunk or main branch. These cuts can weaken your tree, lower its natural defense mechanisms, and even cause decay. You’ll also want to avoid tree topping, which is the total removal of the leader and upper main branches of a tree.

Most pros will advise against either of these methods, which is why hiring a pro is often the best choice when it comes to tree trimming.

It takes anywhere from three to seven years for a stump to decompose on its own. This timeframe can depend on the kind of tree and your climate. The lower to the ground the stump is, the faster it rots. If you kill a tree stump with salt, boiling water, herbicide, light deprivation, or burning, the tree stump decomposes faster.

A chainsaw is the best tool to cut down a tree, but you may also use a handsaw or ax. You may also want to use a lopper or pole saw to remove limbs before cutting down the tree. Wear chainsaw chaps and protective gear, including eyewear and earplugs if you use a chainsaw. Again, if you’re unsure about how to use this tool, this project may be one to skip.

Aside from removing dead or diseased branches, you should prune your trees somewhere between every one and three years. Some people—particularly commercial farmers—prune their apple trees yearly to produce higher yields. This is the best way to promote tree health. That said, the average homeowner can get away with hard-pruning their mature apple tree every other year or every three years.
