"Very professional and efficient. I felt that communication was clear, and he made sure that I was 100% happy with the job before he left. Everything was explained clearly to me from start to finish, and he guided me on purchasing my EV charging box. I would definitely hire Jeff again for any future electrical work."

"Got back to me promptly and came out right away to go over the work, made appointment for the next week to do the work, showed up when he said, worked efficiently, did good work. I arranged for Cody to come back to run power to my shed through an existing 100 foot conduit which also went well and it was not a new conduit. I plan to use Cody for future electrical projects."

"Mike took on wiring hookup of complete, electrical controller system for new in-ground pool Pump, Heater, Lighting, Chemical Generation systems. My original electrician passed away unexpectedly having started project some of his work was not to Code. Mike being very professional explained that he would need to change out some of his work. With minimal directions provided by Local Pool Company Mike installed all the component controllers for the Hayward Omni System in accordance with local code requirements. He is very neat in his work, prompt to schedule and I would highly recommend his services."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

You can add an electrical outlet outside by sending a wire through the wall from an existing interior outlet. Without having to open up walls, you can thread a new electrical cable from the existing outlet through the wall and to the exterior. You’ll need to cut a hole in the siding to place your new outlet. Ensure that your outdoor outlet is a GFCI outlet (ground fault circuit interrupter outlet) per the National Electrical Code. It’s best to hire an electrician to add an outdoor outlet unless you have previous electrical experience.

Aluminum wiring can pose a significant fire risk because it tends to expand, contract, and overheat, leading to failing connections and splices. If your home has aluminum wiring, it doesn't always require a complete replacement, but you must take safety precautions. The first step is to hire a licensed electrician to conduct a thorough inspection. Based on their findings, you have several options:

  • Full Replacement: The safest but most expensive solution is to replace all aluminum wiring with copper.

  • Copper Pigtailing: A more budget-friendly option, suitable for certain homes, involves adding a short section of copper wire to the end of each aluminum wire at connection points.

  • Other Safety Upgrades: Your electrician may also recommend installing aluminum-compatible outlets and applying an anti-oxidant paste to connections to prevent corrosion.

Consulting a professional will help you determine the best course of action to ensure your home's wiring meets current safety standards.

You should not attempt to disable a smoke alarm unless you’ve already activated a replacement unit. To stop a hardwired smoke alarm from beeping, reset the device or silence the alarm. If you’re removing a hardwired alarm, shut off the power, turn the unit counterclockwise to remove it from the ceiling, and disconnect the wiring.

A pigtail is the only safe way to connect an electrical device to more than one circuit wire. Connecting multiple wires to a single screw terminal is extremely dangerous and must never be done. Many electricians will opt for pigtails even when there are multiple screw terminals available so that the device in question won’t halt the flow of downstream current when a problem arises.

You can have power but no lights if the light switch is damaged. A damaged light switch is often caused by regular wear and tear or loose wires. In addition, simple problems such as a burnt-out light bulb or an unplugged lamp could be the cause of not having working lights.
