"Andy did an outstanding of stripping 150 years of paint off the Marshall Point Light in Port Clyde, Maine. The metal was taken down to bright with all paint and extensive rust being removed. This was coordinated with the painters who primed it as soon as it dried. All residue was caught and collected in tarps for proper disposal. No dust was produced. The brickworks and granite blocks were also cleaned down to original surface for priming and recoating. The job was completed timely despite inclement weather. I highly recommend Andy and Aqua Terra for any such project."

This material is widely available, so you can usually find pressure-treated lumber at almost any local home improvement store you visit. The best way to sand a deck is by cleaning it, sanding the boards and stairs with 60- or 80-grit sandpaper, and sanding the railings and posts with 80-grit sandpaper. You should sand in the direction of the wood grain to avoid damaging the timber. When sanding your deck, use medium pressure and aim for an even sand. Pressing too hard with a sander can damage decks, as most are softwoods.

It’s important to make sure the wood on a new deck is properly seasoned. Seasoning a deck is simple: Once you build it (or have a pro do so), just leave it alone so it can acclimate to the environment. If you don’t give the deck proper seasoning time before staining, the stain can lock in any lingering moisture and cause mold, rot, and other moisture issues down the road. Give the wood at least four to eight weeks to season before you stain.
