"They won’t return phone calls. I’ve been waiting for service since May. I can’t get a phone call back from them after leaving 12 plus phone messages. Read other reviews on web before considering using this service. Stay away from this company!! Don’t believe their responses to bad reviews."

A complete property service specializing in servicing vacation homes in the lakes region of Maine.. We offer free estimates, our fees are based on per hour or contract amount. All work is done by our professional team, unless there is a need for a licensed tradesman( electrical, plumbing etc ) in which case they work directly for you.

"I have a new construction house that was left without any accommodation for rain water coming from the roof, causing significant erosion issues. Chris and his team installed an attractive and clean stone drip edge around the entire perimeter. Five Star lived up to its name with a great attention to detail and no skimping on the materials, all at a very fair price. Would highly recommend. Well done!!"

Lawn Irrigation questions, answered by experts

If your grass is stressed from being over-trimmed, try watering it heavily and then allowing it to recover for at least two weeks before mowing again. If you notice brown patches where the grass has died off because it’s too short, you should remove the dead grass and overseed the area. Leaving dead patches can invite weeds and other problems, so if you want a totally green lawn, getting rid of dead patches should include removing the dead sections before reseeding the area.

Watering the lawn after aeration is crucial for getting the most benefits out of it. Not watering the lawn enough will cause the efforts of aeration to be in vain. Light and frequent watering will prevent the soil and grass seeds from drying out, but too much watering can create a muddy mess and wash the seeds away. Watering twice a day is a good benchmark.

While dethatching first often makes the aeration process faster and easier, both actions can be done on the same day. Aeration can also loosen up the thatch, even if you have a harder time aerating the soil because the thatch got too thick. Because both dethatching and aeration have the common goal of making it easier for the soil to get water and nutrients, it’s safe and possible to do both at the same time.

Each type of grass has its own specific needs regarding the timing of aeration, but in general, late summer to early fall is the best time to do so. For most lawns, that means sometime between September and November, though certain types of grass, like St. Augustine Grass, do better with aerations in late spring and early summer.

Buffalo grass does not turn green as early in the spring as some other grasses. If you have a heavily shaded yard, buffalo grass may not receive enough sunlight to thrive. It’s not as dense as some other grass varieties, so it may not feel as comfortable on bare feet.
