They were so helpful in all aspects, including helping me sort out the insurance claim.  Their workers showed up on time and their price was fair.  I cannot say enough  how knowledgeable, professional and helpful everyone I dealt with was.  They had terrific integrity in terms of the work that really needed to be done and how they could assist in the most cost effective manner possible and do a thorough job.  They have an outstanding reputation in southern Maine and it is well deserved.

"The gentlemen who sell the product were excellent.  Punctual and answered our numerous questions.  The installation was timely and the laborers were great.  That's where the good stuff stopped.  First of all, there were scuffs all over the ceilings and a hole in the sheetrock where they had dropped a tool in the attic.  Secondly, the installation of the ac grates was shotty at best.  We had to take one down and realized they were only screwed into the sheetrock no strapping or molly bolts.  The biggest issue however, is that we have been without heat on three occassions, had zones running continuously, and had no less than five service calls to them.  We are beyond frustrated after spending so much and are still working to rectify the issue

I have updated our review.  After the last service call, the problems with the furnace have been fixed.  I believe they are now working with a different installation company which should match with their customer service end of things (which as i said was always excellent) we are still waiting for them to come back this summer to complete a few odds and ends and as soon as that work is completed i will give a final review

"It was a good experience in that I feel I got my money's worth.  Some of the jobs I had on my list were not completed due to reasonable concerns (e.g., putting in a vent fan in the bathroom requires an electrician's license which my contractor didn't have).  So I appreciate that he was honest but I ended up almost not having enough work for him to do!  Luckily, with their help we found plenty of work for them to do.  They did a great job finishing off an insulation job in my attic, patching holes and cracks in my ceiling/walls all over the house and a few other projects around the house.  Bill was great to work with and very accommodating.  Overall, this was a very good experience and I would recommend it.  Just make sure you go over your project list prior to the day of work.

"Roberto was the technician and he was very professional, polite, and personable. He inspected the rest of our system and told us things that needed to be changed or repaired. He showed me pictures of everything. Everything he told me about was accurate. He quoted me a price for R38 insulation , Some of our ducts were plastic and he recommended them to be changed. I agreed completely and didn't know they were plastic. I would have had them done the work but I had no price comparisons to make and besides I didn't have the money right then. So he just finished the vent cleaning and left his card. He did a great job on the vent cleaning and was happy with the work."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Yes, you should insulate behind shower walls. Insulating helps prevent heat loss, which keeps the shower or tub from getting too cold and helps maintain a comfortable temperature in your bathroom. Additionally, proper insulation and air sealing can help prevent wall rot and moisture buildup. It is recommended to use a high R-value rated foam insulation combined with a vapor barrier.

If you plan to heat or cool your garage, you’ll need to insulate the garage ceiling. Insulating your garage ceiling will make your garage much more energy efficient and save on heating and cooling costs. Not only does insulation make your garage more energy efficient, it helps reduce noise and can extend the life of your garage roof. You can use fiberglass, cellulose, mineral wool, or spray foam insulation for this project.

On average, insulating an attic costs about $2,500, with a typical range of $1,500 to $3,500. The final price often depends on the attic's size, with costs generally falling between $1 to $3 per square foot. For example, insulating a 1,800-square-foot attic would likely cost between $1,800 and $5,400.

If the project involves removing old insulation, this can add an average of $900 to the total cost, bringing a full removal and reinsulation project to around $3,000.

Several factors influence the overall cost:

  • Insulation Type: Prices per square foot vary significantly by material.

  • Reflective: $0.50–$1.50

  • Blown-in: $1–$4

  • Batt: $2–$4

  • Loose-fill: $2–$5

  • Spray foam: $2–$5

  • Structural insulated panels (SIPs): $4–$7

  • Project Complexity: Factors like sealing air leaks, poor attic accessibility, and required inspections can add to the cost.

  • Removal Issues: The discovery of mold, asbestos, or pests during the removal of old insulation can substantially increase the price.

Yes, you can install insulation over ductwork, and doing so can save you money. Without insulation, the HVAC unit must work harder to force warm or cool air around the home, and once the air reaches the vent, it may not be the correct temperature. Insulating HVAC ducts makes your system work more efficiently, saving you money on heating and cooling bills.

If you have blown-in insulation, using an insulation vacuum will quickly and easily suck up all the insulation. Many come with built-in HEPA filters for added safety. While some people suggest breaking up large batts and feeding them into the vacuum, this can expose you to more fiberglass fibers. With batts and rolls, carefully removing them and placing them into garbage bags is a better process.
