"The Dump Guy provided one of the most exceptional customer service experiences I have had in years. I scheduled via email, they answered a few questions I had, and called me the day of asking if they could arrive 2 hours early (happily!). When the two gentlemen showed up, they were friendly, personable, and willing to do whatever needed to be done. They even thanked me for getting all my junk into three piles on the lawn for them to take. I thought I had underestimated my haul and thought I would have to spend more, but they said the brush would be a little cheaper than the other stuff because it is lighter. There was a VERY large broken branch on my lawn I didn't consider having them haul, and they offered to throw it in if I wanted. When they picked up the brush and branches, they raked up everything around so it was perfect as they left. Also, I had this strange, thick metal wire sticking up from my driveway, and one of the gentlemen offered to cut it off with his Sawsall so it wouldn't mess up my car. Above and beyond doesn't cover the level of service I received! No question I would hire again."

You may be able to install a garbage disposal on your own, especially if you're handy or have some experience with plumbing. The main issue with garbage disposals is clogging. This can mean a clogging of the pipes that expel the food along with water, or a clogging of the mechanical parts themselves. The problem lies in the solution because you can’t easily see clogs if they’re inside the system, and reaching in to dislodge stuck items is a risky proposal. Call a pro and ask what they would do, but if you can’t see the clog easily, and running the unit won’t free it, you need to let a professional handle the fix. 

Many homeowners wonder if a garbage disposal is necessary with a dishwasher. After all, many dishwashers are powerful enough to handle bits of food with no issues.  

Still, your dishwasher should not act as a replacement for a disposal. Subjecting your dishwasher to continuous leftovers could lead to major clogs. If you don’t want a garbage disposal in your kitchen, simply scrape away any extra food into your trash can or compost pile.

Once you have your garbage disposal disconnected, you can remove the mounting bracket by unscrewing the bolts that are holding the bracket. You can back them out just enough to pop off the snap ring, which prevents the bottom portion of the bracket from disconnecting from the top when you unscrew the bolts. Use a regular screwdriver to pop off the snap ring, and the rest of the components should fall off by themselves.
