Painting and Papering for 30 years, with most of my work in residential settings.I work as a sub-contractor for new home construction with builders and designers. I also travel in the winter and work in Iowa and Arizona. I will provide a written bid and the time allowed for the project. Materials can be included or bought by the homeowner or builder, which ever is preferred. I asked for the material costs up front. The labor costs due on completion of work.

"I can't believe how fortunate I was to find Mary Jo on Angie's List. She is a professional from start to finish and her work is impeccable -- FAR above my expectations. I was so satisfied, I asked her to come back and paint my living and dining room ceilings. Once again, the job was done to perfection. You can't go wrong with her doing the job."

"Hazelwood Handyman was amazing. They were on time, did a great job and came in at the estimated price. One thin guy moved a frig that weighs at least 800 pds- it took 4 movers to put it in place when installed. I was amazed! Highly recommended."

Fix-It Man is RRP (Renovation, Repair, and Painting) Certified by EPA as well as Maine Weatherization tech certified. The owner, Vincent Veligor is also a Licensed Construction Superintendent. After contacting us, we’ll set up a “meet and greet” to get acquainted and review the project and provide an estimate of the time or cost. For bigger projects, we ask that you sign a contract and in some cases where there are significant material costs or special order items, we require an up-front payment. For longer projects we may do interim invoicing; otherwise we bill for the project when it is complete and we request that you pay us upon receipt of the invoice.

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

Common mistakes when finishing basement walls include neglecting proper insulation, insufficient moisture management, and poor ventilation. Not addressing these issues can lead to mold growth, water damage, and discomfort. Additionally, inadequate planning, improper framing, and rushing the project can result in subpar outcomes.

It's essential to follow best practices, seek professional guidance if needed, and prioritize thoroughness and attention to detail.

Spring and fall are the best seasons to apply wallpaper because excessively hot or cold temperatures can cause issues with the paste used to attach the paper to the wall. A professional wallpaper hanger can help you decide if your home is too hot, cold, humid, or dry for the wallpaper to stick properly.

When choosing materials for finishing basement walls, consider factors such as moisture resistance, durability, and fire resistance. Opt for materials specifically designed for basement environments, like moisture-resistant drywall or cement board. Insulation with vapor barriers can help regulate temperature and prevent condensation. Consider using mold-resistant paints or coatings.

Research and consult with experts to select materials that are suitable for your specific basement conditions and intended use. Prioritize quality and compatibility to achieve long-lasting and aesthetically pleasing results.

Accent walls can feel out of place or distracting if not well designed. Accent walls that don’t fit in with a room’s style can feel jarring or overpowering. Some accent wall styles can also feel dated, but fortunately, it’s easier to update a single wall than an entire room.

Because replacing pool tiles requires fully draining your pool, it’s a great opportunity to complete other projects. You may want to replace your pool’s vinyl liner or repair cracks. You might also replace your swimming pool heater or even take on the cost of resurfacing your pool. Resurfacing, although relatively costly, can help prolong the lifespan of your pool.
