Customers say: Quick response

"John was great to work with to have my front exterior and storm doors replaced. He responded quickly when I reached out for an estimate and he was able to meet me within a couple days to review the project. He made it easy to shop for the necessary materials so I could pick out the doors and get other supplies in one trip. The project was completed in a timely manner despite the rain and an issue with one of the materials (bad/old product from hardware store) I had picked up. John was very courteous and professional throughout the whole process. In the end, he did a quality install and cleaned up the work site. I'm very happy with the results."

His workmanship is good, rates reasonable and he is pleasant to work with. He got to me quickly because I needed to have the work done prior to a scheduled painter could start. Hello,\n\nMy name is Adam. \n\nI just started my own LLC doing carpentry. I’ve done carpentry throughout my life, and professionally for three years. I have also worked as a fireman, and rock climbing guide, a painter, and a cobbler. I enjoy using really big saws (of all kinds, chainsaws included) and working with big pieces of timber. I love making my work clean and precise. I also enjoy making big oil paintings and stretching my own canvases. Angi asked me to write a little about myself. How’s that?

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Yes, walls on the top floor can be load-bearing if stacked on the floor’s foundation.

Bump-out additions can add some space to a closet without requiring any significant structural work. This entails pushing back the existing rear or side of the closet, simply moving the wall into either an adjacent room or unused space. For ground-floor closets, this could even be extended to the exterior of the home, but that has its own complications. Bump-outs are a good discussion to have with your contractor if you’re just looking to increase the space a little—not renovate the entire closet space.

There are both temporary and permanent ways to enclose a carport. If you’re looking to enclose your carport for the winter, a canvas enclosure could do the trick. It won’t be as protective as a permanent structure, but it can offer some protection from elements like snow, rain, and wind. For a permanent enclosure, you can add extra walls, add a new vertical roof, or a lean-to addition on one side of the structure.

The cost to frame a 2,000-square-foot house can fall anywhere between $14,000 and $32,000. This price can increase or decrease depending on what type of framing you choose, the quality of the materials, the project's complexity, and whether you decide to hire a professional to do the job.

For a professional carpenter, installing a window seat can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days, depending on some aspects of the project. Aside from building the seat itself, if they have to remove any cabinets, shelves, or baseboards, that will add time to the project.
