Small jobs welcome

"I can’t recommend Maniacs Carpet Cleaning and Water Extraction enough!! They came in and did such a fantastic job on my carpets!! They were very responsive, professional, and made sure everything looked better than when they showed up. Having three dogs I never thought they would get clean again and now they look as good as the day we had them installed!!!"

"I highly recommend Octagon Cleaning and Restoration. We recently purchased a house on the water and discovered that we had a mold issue in our basement. Matt and his crew were professional, informed us what needed to be done and completely eliminated the mold and the musty smell. Matt was very responsive to my texts, answered all my questions and a great representative of Octagon."

"I can't praise Shawna and Josh high enough for the work they did. The house was in unbelievably bad shape, needing much trash removal, clutter removal, massive organizing, scrubbing and disinfecting a house with 7 rooms and 2 baths, plus a hallway that was in believable and unlivable shape. Added to that, they made many small repairs and picked up needed items (small rugs, locks, etc.). The job they did ran - expectedly - over 8 days and when they were done the place was unrecognizable. When they were done, you could, as the saying goes, eat off the floor. But more than that, they treated the inhabitants of the house, two elderly women and a single mother and child, with the greatest respect. Everyone was amazed at the magic they performed. They were efficient, didn't waste anytime, and more important, were totally trustworthy. I can only say that whatever job you have, they will do a remarkable job. Now that the house is cleaned I plan to hire them to do weekly cleaning. They earned every penny of their fee and then some. Thank you Shawna and Josh. You're amazing."

Carpet Cleaning questions, answered by experts

The duration of mildew smell in carpets depends on several factors, including the extent of moisture, cleanliness, and ventilation. If promptly addressed, the smell can diminish within a few days to a couple of weeks after thoroughly drying and cleaning the carpet. However, in severe cases or if not properly treated, the smell might persist. Persistent odors could indicate deeper mildew growth, requiring professional cleaning or, in extreme cases, carpet replacement to completely eliminate the smell.

You can clean your carpet with products you probably already have underneath your sink. You can use baking soda the same as a powdered carpet cleaner. Club soda can lift new stains, while white vinegar and dish soap can pull out old stains.

Because you likely don’t have the equipment to dry your oriental rug adequately, cleaning it with a hose or any deluge of water is a bad idea. The fibers of an oriental rug are especially dense, so water can cause damage like marking, fading, mold, and odor. Since sunlight can also fade an oriental rug, that’s not a good option for drying it to prevent damage.

Vinegar is the most popular natural carpet cleaning substance. Mix a one-to-one ratio of vinegar and water to make a homemade cleansing solution. Don’t completely drench your carpet with it, but you can blot some on with a rag or spritz it on with a spray bottle, then work the mixture in with a brush, allow it to dry, and vacuum the area.

To remove odor from a leather couch, let's focus first on what not to do.

A quick Google search may suggest using vinegar to do the job—don't. The acid will dry out anything made of leather. A better DIY option is to sprinkle a little baking soda on your sofa and let it rest for a few hours. Afterward, vacuum it up with a soft-attachment brush. You can also try airing your sofa by opening windows or leaving it outside for a few hours in a clean, dry space.
