Black Bear Landscaping performs a wide range of projects. Included are outdoor hardscapes to total project designs that encompass patio, irrigation, lawn installation, flower bed designs, driveway and fencing. Black Bear Landscaping offers all landscaping services at competitive rates. Employees range from 3 to 10 and we occasionally use subcontractors when necessary. Larger contracts pricing allows for 1/3rd down, 1/3rd mid project and the final 1/3 at project completion.

"It went terribly. The owner promised his company was better than the others in the area because he uses 4-5 inches of topsoil, where his competitors use 2 inches. He talked up the seed that he uses, and that after installation in June of 2020, he would be back in the fall to weed and feed (which they did), and after all the trouble we had, said he would return in the spring of 2021 to fix it. That did not happen. What we got was 2 inches of topsoil,barely enough to cover some stumps we had ground, weeds, lots of weeds, more weeds than grass, then came the crabgrass which choked out any seed he put down. He did not come back this spring, so now our front yard is weeds, clover, some grass, crabgrass, and no grass growing where the three stumps were. And he tried to charge us for extra topsoil! I would never recommend Black Bear Landscaping."

Crawl space foundation problems can stem from a few different issues, but the most common are moisture and water problems and soil instability. Moisture and water issues are often a result of poor drainage, which can lead to water intrusion and soil expansion and contraction, leaving your foundation under added stress. A few things can cause soil instability, including poor drainage, karst landscapes and resulting sinkholes, and poorly compacted soil during construction.

Mold and other fungi love moisture, so the best way to prevent mold growth after water damage is to remove as much moisture as possible. First, find the source of the water or moisture, such as a leak or clogged gutters, and correct the problem. Next, remove standing water, vacuum up puddles with a shop vacuum, and run blower fans and dehumidifiers for 24 to 72 hours. Once you've removed all traces of moisture, disinfect the area using either vinegar or bleach to kill any remaining mold spores.

Homeowners insurance may cover basement flooding, but only if a covered peril causes it. For example, a burst pipe may be covered if the event was sudden and accidental, not caused by wear and tear or homeowner neglect. Flooding caused by extreme weather is only covered if you have a separate flood insurance policy.

The least expensive basement waterproofing methods include grading soil away from your home, installing downspout extenders on your gutter system, and applying a waterproof paint on the interior of the foundation walls. Installing a French drain is a relatively inexpensive method if you do the work yourself, although it’s labor-intensive and can be challenging to install properly.

Anything having to do with the structure of your home, such as raising the ceiling, is usually the most expensive part of finishing a basement. Another project component that could be a surprisingly high expense is adding an exterior entrance.
