You can buy inexpensive kitchen flooring off the shelf at most home improvement stores with the best prices offered by big-box chain stores. You can mop bamboo floors, but exercise caution to protect the material from excess moisture, which can seep into the bamboo, causing it to warp and well. Moisten a microfiber mop and wring it out until it’s just damp, or use a pH-neutral cleaner, as this will prevent damage to the bamboo fibers. Avoid harsh chemicals, like traditional floor cleaners. After cleaning, wipe the floor dry.

Laminate flooring takes about 24 to 48  hours to settle. Before this, planks are not completely acclimated to your home, and walking on them could cause shifting and permanent damage to the flooring. You should allow floorboards to acclimate for 48 to 72 hours before installing so that they can adjust to your home’s humidity and temperature levels, but they will continue to acclimate and settle after installation. For this reason, avoid placing any furniture in the room for 72 hours after installation.

Your floors will continue to settle for a few months after installation, becoming less bouncy as they rest.

No subflooring is perfectly level, but you should never ignore any noticeable floor sagging. Most contractors deem a floor that slopes by a 1/2 inch to 1 inch per 20 feet of floor acceptable. Further investigation is required when the slope or sag is more than one and a half inches.

Ultimately, it’s a matter of personal preference. However, as a rule of thumb, lighter-colored carpets and walls will open up a room and often make it feel larger than it really is. On the other hand, darker shades tend to shrink a space, making it feel cozier. By mixing and matching light and dark colors, you can add dimension to the room.
