"Rick did removed cabinets for us in the kitchen and put in new lighting. He also did a lot of work finishing our basement. He put up a ceiling, a wall, built us a custom wet bar and finished all the basement trim. His quality of work is excellent, he is so easy to work with and is very flexible. His prices are great too. We will be calling Rick again for all of our future projects!"

"Livingstone was easy to work with and very knowledgeable about the projects I needed done. He was flexible in balancing the amount of work to be done within my budget. He planned the project around my family's busy schedule. He and his team repaired and painted wooden siding and trim, sealed gutters, and painted the deck. All the work was done within a day. The house looks fantastic. I wish I had called him sooner."

Treehouse Builders questions, answered by experts

The biggest mistake homeowners make during greenhouse and nursery service is skipping required building permits. Many also underestimate extreme ME snow loads, resulting in collapsed roofs. Pouring shallow foundations guarantees severe frost heave damage within a few winters. Attempting year-round growing without proper heating infrastructure destroys plant stock. Always check shoreland zoning rules near Brunswick waterways, and never hire unlicensed contractors to build your permanent structures.

Helpful?

Adding greenhouse and nursery service directly to your home impacts multiple systems. An attached structure requires matching foundation depths to prevent differential settling. Tying into your home’s heating system places extra demand on your existing boiler. You must hire licensed professionals to install dedicated electrical circuits and winterized plumbing lines. Improper roof connections also create dangerous ice dams during severe Brunswick winter storms, leading to serious water damage inside your home.

Helpful?

Avoid any contractor who lacks a valid ME license or general liability insurance. A reliable professional will always include local building permits in their quote for your greenhouse and nursery service. Watch out for plans that ignore the required 48-inch foundation depth or fail to specify engineered snow load ratings. Contractors unfamiliar with Brunswick zoning laws or coastal weather requirements put your entire project at risk of structural failure.

Helpful?

Surviving winter weather dictates the lifespan of your greenhouse and nursery service. Your structure must handle heavy ME snow loads and coastal winds. Prevent frost heave by installing foundations at least 48 inches deep. For year-round growing, install reliable heating systems and high-quality insulation to combat freezing temperatures. Finally, place your greenhouse facing south or southeast to maximize sunlight during those short, dark winter days in Brunswick.

Helpful?

Start by securing the necessary building permits for your greenhouse and nursery service. Brunswick requires permits for permanent structures, and attached greenhouses count as home additions. Plan your ground preparation between May and October to avoid frozen soil. You must also check local shoreland zoning rules if your property sits near the water. Always hire a licensed ME contractor to handle the heavy lifting and keep everything up to code.
