"Before I hired Mr. Reyes, we spoke in detail about what I expected. He agreed. What I got was a sloppy and unprofessional job. He rushed through my job in order to finish in one day as opposed to taking his time and doing a thorough and professional job. He was supposed to clean and restore the shower base, stall and frame. He painted over built up dirt in the shower base. Now, there are dirt stains showing through the paint and the base is so uneven and rough that if I stepped in the shower the bottom of my feet may get cut. Instead of cleaning the frame thoroughly, he painted over built up dirt and it looks terrible. He painted just the bottom of the frame with the wrong type of paint. He wasn't supposed to paint the frame at all. He painted the drain as opposed to removing, cleaning and replacing it after the paint dried. His caulking job is uneven and lacks consistency. He left paint on the shower head and light fixture in the ceiling. He was supposed to replace the door henges, light switch and electric socket. He didn't. He painted part of the door frame and left the other parts unpainted. He didn't smooth out the vanity before painting leaving it looking a mess inside and out. He left paint on the vanity door henges. He left running paint in spots and paint droppings in the window seal. He painted parts of the window frame that did not need to be painted and it's sporadic and sloppy. He didn't prep the walls before painting (as discussed) leaving the walls uneven and bumpy. He did a mediocre job cleaning the shower tiles. He did a good job cleaning the shower glass, installing the quarter round and covering the base of the vanity with a special adhesive paper. Another contractor installed the flooring and new toilet. After he finished the job, Mr. Reyes sent me a very nice video that made everything look beautiful. I told him I'd have to see the work in person because videos can be deceiving. When I saw what he did, I was very upset. I contacted him about my concerns and he returned on November 13th. I pointed out all of my complaints about this work. He asked me what I would pay for the job as is. I asked "You mean you aren't going to fix this?" He said no to fixing his work. I told him I'd pay $500. He said no to the $500 and said he was going to his truck to call some people. I considered that statement to be a threat. He sat in his truck for a while and I wasin my vehicle on the phone with an Angi representative when he walked up behind me a took a photo of my vehicle's license plate. I considered that to be another threat so I took photos of his license plates. Then he sent me a text instructing me to send the $500 via Zelle right now. He sent me a couple other messages about the $500. I told him I had to file a report with Angi and figure out how much it going to cost me to correct his work. Evidence that he knew he did a terrible job is that he refused to fix his work and the fact that he was willing to accept less than half of agreed upon amount of $1150. Two contractors came out and told me how unprofessional Mr. Reyes work is. One contractor quoted me a price of over $3000 to correct his work and do the job right. His final message to me was very munipulative and he ended it with "Don't make me think you're a bad person." Another threat. I didn't respond. Mr. Reyes' sloppy and unprofessional work caused a delay in my project."

FAQs for snow removal projects in Saint Michaels, MD

Before hiring a snow removal company, it’s essential first to ask questions to understand the details thoroughly. Since every company has different policies and snow removal methods, it’s best to clarify upfront before you’re left in a heap of snow. Some starting questions to consider include:

  • What are the procedures for a snowstorm? Do I need to call you each time, or do you automatically come out?

  • Do you wait until after the snow has stopped falling or make multiple passes throughout the storm?

  • What is your method of removal?

  • Do you use salt after the snow is removed? Is it pet-safe?

  • How does your billing work? Do you bill extra for blizzard conditions?

  • Can I sign an annual contract, or do you bill for each storm?

The cost of an annual snow removal contract is $200 to $600. This cost is significantly impacted by the area you live in. Places that don’t receive considerable snowfall might charge less for an annual contract, and those areas that get heaps of snow throughout the fall and winter can expect to pay on the higher side. In addition, property size, expected response time, and extra services like clearing a sidewalk can also impact your cost.

Yes, most states require that snow removal companies be insured under workers' compensation. This protects the employees financially if an injury were to happen (and when dealing with ice and snow, it’s possible that injury could occur). In addition, most states require snow removal companies to be covered under general liability, which would help cover the cost of any property damage incurred during the removal process.

Depending on where you live and your average snowfall, removing snow from your property yourself with either a shovel or a snowblower is reasonable. A snow shovel costs around $60, and a snowblower can range from $100 to $2,300. However, taking a DIY approach to this isn’t always the best option. In these cases, it’s best to hire a professional snow removal company:

  • If you have a large property or an extended area that needs clearing

  • If you have certain health conditions, such as mobility issues

  • If you want to save time or need the snow removed ASAP

  • If you live in an area with frequent heavy snowfall and want to offset your time spent

  • If you lack the space to store snow removal equipment

It’s no surprise that removing snow from your driveway makes coming and going significantly easier and lowers the risk of falling. However, it’s important to note that if you don’t remove snow from your driveway, you run the risk of damaging your paving. As the snow melts, water can seep into your driveway. This can lead to the formation of cracks. When the water freezes, this expands the minor cracks, leading to more significant damage.
