"E Stanley paving did a great job. Their representative Joe was friendly and professional and able to answer all our questions. They started the job within a few days of the initial visit. It entailed a lot more work than I thought. They had to bust up three sections of the driveway in order to make it level and get a proper base and had to raise a drain in the driveway. Due to many issues with the county grinder in our front yard that the county has had to excavate our driveway had sunk down 3 inches. They created a smooth surface level to the sidewalk and did a nice job on the edges. We couldn't be more thrilled."

"These guy's were awesome. I am very pleased with the work that was done. They helped me move items away from the driveway. Cleaned, edged, and then provided a uniform seal and coat on the entire driveway. Took them only 3-4 days to do the job after they came out and gave an estimate. They were on the phone scheduling their arrival even on a Saturday. Saw what my neighbors went through after they got the $80 special from the drive by's that were "going to be in the neighborhood". I think they charged me the going rate, which is a little high, but I wanted a first class job and was willing to pay for it. Highly recommend them to my Severna Park neighbors and friends."

"Wonderful company. Our neglected driveway was BADLY in need of sealcoating, crack repair and we had a chip which we repaired ourselves will cold patch years ago. They came out, repaired all the cracks, patch and offered/gave it a DOUBLE coat for extra added seal. The total charge was $500, but our driveway is larger than your "Angie's List deal size". and we needed a lot of help. Will call again and recommend to all. COVID-19 compliant as well in case you care..."

"My front porch was breaking apart, particularly near the front where it overhangs a little bit above the steps.  In addition, my retaining wall for the stairs leading into the basement was breaking apart badly on one section up top and was noticing surface cracks from the sides as well.  I had sump pump water that was circling around and pooling in front of the foundation.
When I called, I was pleasantly surprised to get Mr. DiFatta directly on the line at which time I scheduled an estimate.    While he was performing the estimate, he took the time to answer the many questions that I had.  He was honest in letting me know that they were backed up due to weather (which I expected).  Mr. DiFatta seemed to understand exactly the scope of work I was looking for; quality repairs along with appropriate preventive measures that would last a long time while minimizing unnecessary expense.
I was at my job most of the time while the work was being performed so I can't comment on the work process itself except to mention that  I saw Mr. DiFatta personally on site several times and met one of his sons on a Saturday morning when he asked me if I could move my truck to provide room for the dump truck.
Upon completion of the work, the front porch and stairs went from a trip hazard to looking brand new!  The retaining wall for the steps leading into the basement entrance looked spectacular..  The cement that was poured along the side of the house looked absolutely professional; there was an AC unit in the way which they successfully raised and placed onto this cement without incident.  The concrete step and asphalt encourages water to flow further down the driveway instead of draining back down and pooling in the right front of the house foundation.  The sump pump pipe outlet was redirected so water discharge would stay away from foundation.

"12-27-22, Mickey's Asphalt Company asphalted my driveway and my car-pad. The Six men worked together perfectly. They laid the asphalt very carefully around my 12 holly bushes bordering my driveway. Afterwards, they put the grass back that bordered my car-pad. Two men cleaned off my front porch. They cleaned up all debris in the street. Mickey (the owner), Nick (foreman) and Salena were very respectful to me. This job was worth the money! I referred this company to (2) of my neighbors."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

When asphalt cures, it typically changes from a very dark black hue to a lighter, more matte gray color. Cured asphalt also won’t be tacky or sticky to the touch or emit any odors from the asphalt mix. Additionally, the surface of fully cured asphalt won’t deform under any pressure.

Like all driveway materials, asphalt can crack in the wrong conditions and with age. Many things can cause asphalt to crack, including shifting soil or settling under the foundation. Other common causes are driving oversized vehicles on the asphalt, tree roots, and using rock salt during the snowy season. Proper installation and sealing the driveway every 10 years can help prevent cracks.

The material that’s best for your private road depends on your property, the climate in your area, and your personal preferences. Gravel is an affordable option, but some homeowners don’t like how it looks. It can be a pain to remove snow from, and it requires more ongoing maintenance than asphalt or concrete. However, while these other options require less maintenance and make snow removal a breeze, they’re more expensive and will need repairs from time to time. Ultimately, you’ll have to choose the road material that suits you and your property best.

While blacktop is a type of asphalt, the terms should not be used interchangeably, as not all asphalt qualifies as blacktop. The primary differences are in their composition, production process, and ideal applications. Blacktop contains more stone than other types of asphalt and is heated to a higher temperature during production—300°F or more—while hot-mix asphalt is heated to between 275°F and 300°F. The ratio of bitumen (a tar-like crude oil) is a key differentiator, though sources vary: some state blacktop has less bitumen, making it less durable, while others claim it has a higher ratio. Due to these differences, asphalt is generally more durable and better for high-traffic areas like highways and streets, while blacktop is more suitable for playgrounds and residential driveways. For a driveway project, it is best to consult a professional to determine the most appropriate material.

New asphalt typically needs 24 to 72 hours to dry before it can handle light foot traffic and careful driving. Although it may appear solid after a few days, the full curing process, where the asphalt reaches its peak strength, takes much longer—generally from 30 days to a year.

During this extended curing time, the surface remains relatively soft and can be damaged by heavy vehicles, sharp objects, or high temperatures. To protect your investment, it's best to avoid parking heavy machinery on the asphalt until it has fully cured.

The exact time required for drying and curing depends on several factors, including the weather, the specific asphalt mix, and its thickness. For the most accurate advice tailored to your situation, consult with your asphalt contractor.
