"Quick response and thorough replacement of gutters. No issues since installation last year. Previously water was getting between gutters and house. Plus leaves were constantly clogging the gutters even with my husband cleaning them out. Now, those issues are resolved."

"We hired Canales LLC to repoint a waist high brick facade, extend a privacy fence by 25 feet, and replace the aluminum and soffit around our home. Erick and Mary Ella were communicative in providing a quote, discussing the project, and providing a timeline for each stage of the work. Amazingly, they were able to provide a crew to complete everything in two days. Additionally, they cleaned up the site and somehow removed and replaced the existing gutters around a large immovable pergola in our backyard. All in, the cost for everything was far more reasonable than other larger contractors with lower ratings. I'll post photos of the work on their Google Reviews page."

"Cleaned gutters on two story colonial and also gutters on addition and two car garage.  Several gutters were badly in need of cleaning/unclogging.  Also, Vince adjusted several downspouts, added support brackets, and repaired a few supports on gutters.  We are very pleased with the work."

"The guy came out. They did a very good job, professional presentation. I was looking for another window. He suggested that, the windows here are all 10 years, I put them in 10 years ago. I just needed light in the dining room and they installed a 6 foot bay window. It is so great. I am so happy that that room is light and bright. You have no idea. They did a professional job. They came in the day they were suppose to, it was all done in one day. It was a long one because my house has solid wood plank inside walls. They were clapboard outside. They are tongue and groove clapboard plus the insulation in between. Because of the wood inside the braces are 12 inches instead of 16 so they had a ton of wood to cut through. It took forever but they did a great job. They put in new headers. They put in new stuff. The window is fantastic. It's not cold near the window. Right after they put it in in October Sandy came right at the end. We weathered well. Considering everything I am so happy. Castle Windows did everything they said they would. They showed me step by step what they were doing. It is a well supported bay window and they did a great job. Sandy hit October 29th. I'm glad I didn't plan it two days ahead. I got used to the window being there because after that, I'm very thrilled. Everything survived well. They used excellent materials. They're double panned window. They have a guarantee for it. It is 5 foot. They enlarged the hole tremendously. It was a single 25 incher window, regular up and down window from long ago. They cut the hole in there. They replaced everything, headers. Huge thick boards. Supported them well. I saw what they were doing and I felt secure about it. It's wonderful. I can't say enough about it. Windows, the cranks fold in. You can sit on the ledge. My granddaughter can sit on the ledge and sit by the window. The cat loves it. His favorite place is near the window, right there. Impressed with service, they came when they said they would. They did what what they said they were going to do. It's just great. I would recommend them. It's a recommendation for other people who are looking to do something correct and people you can trust. I felt they did a great job. They cleaned up, took everything with them. I asked them to leave the window I put in there because it was a vinyl up and down window tilt out so you can wash inside and out and so I asked them to leave that and they did."

Gutter Repair and Replacement questions, answered by experts

While minimal drippage may not be problematic, gutters that are constantly leaking or overflowing indicate damage or improper installation. A rain chain gutter or other ornamental feature may produce more dripping than usual. Likewise, rain dispersal systems may also cause water to sprinkle to the ground. However, if you notice pools of water or flooding around your property, then it’s a good idea to have your gutter system inspected.

On average, gutters need to be replaced every 20 years. Unprotected gutters in more extreme weather conditions are more prone to breaking and may need to be replaced sooner. Meanwhile, proper maintenance can extend your gutter’s life span even further. That said, proper installation, gutter hangers to provide additional support, and gutter guards or helmets all play an important role in how long your gutters last.

The most common problem with gutters is clogging from debris like leaves, blossoms, and seeds from surrounding trees. This debris can block downspouts, leading to improper drainage and water overflow.

Other common issues include:

  • Leaks and holes, which can often be repaired with gutter sealant or caulk.

  • Rust, sagging, or detachment from the roofline.

  • Damage from strong storms.

  • Improperly pitched gutters that don't drain correctly.

Regular cleaning in the spring and fall is the best way to prevent most of these problems. You may need to clean them more often during periods of heavy leaf fall.

Costs depend on gutter length, damage severity, and labor rates.

With routine maintenance, gutters don’t usually need to be replaced for 20 years, but there are warning signs that they might need early replacement. Signs that your gutters need to be replaced include sagging, visible cracks or holes, peeling paint, rust, standing water in your gutter, and water leaking into your basement. Pushing off replacing your gutters can lead to extensive damage to both the interior and exterior of your home. Regular maintenance can help your gutters last all 20 years — and sometimes, even longer.
