"This project was unique in that we had buckling in a particular section of our hardwood flooring. In addition, some moisture was identified under an adjacent section. We replaced the buckling section with ceramic tile “rug” and repaired the adjacent section We were extremely satisfied with Zavala flooring throughout the entire process. They were knowledgeable and professional offering sound suggestions and recommendations. The work turned out beautifully."

"I would definitely recommend Wyatt Professional Flooring to everyone. I had a carpet that required re-stretching. Mike and his son came and did a great job. They were punctual, professional and personable. They explained the work during the project. You could tell they were very experienced. Also, cleaned up after the job was completed."

"We chose Carpet Concepts because they were listed as a local Mohawk vendor. We knew we wanted to replace our old carpet with eco-friendly Smartstrand carpet, but had heard horror stories about installation nightmares through big box stores. Dave was friendly and communicative when we visited the store-- free carpet samples arrived within the week, and Dave was quick to provide an in-home estimate without any high-pressure sales tactics. The price seemed competitive and the customer service was excellent, so we decided to move forward with Carpet Concepts-- and I'm glad we did. The two-man installation crew was punctual, polite, and efficient, and the carpet looks great. A good experience from start to finish... we're very pleased. "

Carpet Stretching questions, answered by experts

The cost of carpet repair is $204 on average. The typical range for this project is between $135 and $280 but can increase to $1,000 for severe pet damage repair. The type of repair, along with the carpet material, will impact your total price tag.

The necessary type of carpet repair is a significant factor in the total price for this project. You can repair simple repairs, like tears and snags, for between $100 and $250. For more complex damage, like water or severe pet damage, prices can start at $300 and jump to $1,000 or more.

You can save money on labor costs by removing your old carpet before the professionals come in to install the new carpet. Just make sure to clear it with your contractor ahead of time. You might also be able to cut costs by buying carpet at certain times of year when it’s less expensive. These periods include late December to mid-January and late spring to early summer.

When deciding whether to repair or replace your carpet, consider its age, the extent of the damage, and its location. It's often best to replace the entire carpet if the damage is extensive, such as large sections needing replacement, or if it's caused by water, which can lead to mold problems. Similarly, if your carpet is nearing a decade old, replacement is likely the more logical choice. On the other hand, consider repairing your carpet if the damage is localized to one spot, like minor rips or snags, the carpet is still relatively new, or the damage is in a low-traffic area of your home.

Regular maintenance and professional repairs can extend the life of a carpet.

The best way to fix carpet matting is to start by vacuuming thoroughly in multiple directions to lift the flattened fibers. For more stubborn spots, apply moisture with an ice cube or steam, then fluff the carpet using a spoon, comb, or carpet brush. A blow dryer or warm iron over a damp towel can also help restore the carpet’s texture. For deep or widespread matting, a professional cleaning is your best bet to fluff your carpet back up to its former glory.
