"Joe and his team did an exceptional job helping us integrate multiple projects in our basement and the results were outstanding! We had to have our existing partially finished basement demolished so we could have french drains and a sump system put in, as well as a geothermal heating/cooling installation accomplished, after having an existing oil burning furnace and radiant heating system removed. The basement restoral project included plumbing and sink replacement, electrical and lighting efficiency upgrades, framing and drywall replacement, door replacements, flooring replacement, and a few decorative additions to give the space some character. The entire process: scoping, design, coordination, execution, and detailed wrap up was accomplished under a great leader and problem solver with highly credible and expert tradesman. We shopped around for multiple quotes before selecting JD Michael Construction. Any and all future projects will go through this team! We are grateful!"

"Had basement windows installed. Great job, explained everything. The windows were the original ones. They covered the floors and the basement steps, cleaned up everything afterwards."

"From day One (appraisal). I felt that this was the company. I had a few estimates, but they were not as professional as this Company (Basement Systems). The contract was all in a diagram and broken down. Not a hand written piece of carbon paper. The workers arrived for a two day job. These guys were professional animals. NON STOP working. Even at lunch time they took individual short breaks. Always two Working! Mostly all 3 working. I am extremely impressed and satisfied with this somewhat complicated installation. Concrete chiseled/jack hammered out for both sump pumps (non existed). Everything cleaned up and disposed! (SIDE NOTE) If having this work done, when they tell you it will be "Dusty", believe me they are correct! I hung plastic to block off other half of basement, that did help allot! They arrived on time, stayed late and never really took a "break". Work Animals! The Foreman of the job, stopped what he was doing to answer any and all questions I had and explained in detail what he was doing and why! Good People! Great Company!"

"We purchased a foreclosed home and there was some water damage and some other damage done to the home and he and his team did the repairs; he did a cut through into the living room and turned into an open concept, he installed Bamboo flooring, drywall, rerouted some plumbing, etc. We were thoroughly very happy and approved of the work he and his team did. He did a perfect job with everything. The work was great."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

The lifespan of tile flooring can vary significantly based on the material and maintenance. Generally, tile flooring can last anywhere from 10 to 30 years, but high-quality, well-maintained ceramic tile can last 75 to 100 years. To achieve a longer lifespan, you should clean the tiles and grout regularly, reseal the grout annually, keep the floor dry, and avoid placing extremely heavy items on it to prevent cracking. Choosing a high-quality tile (Grade 1) will also contribute to its longevity.

Using caulk is one of the simplest and most recommended methods to finish glass tile edges. It creates an elegant seam between the glass tile and the adjacent area, along with a waterproof seal. With this method, you want to use a caulk color that matches the grout and, along with the grout, compliments the tile. Make sure the caulk line is smooth and even. Alternatively, you can use a bullnose or tile trimming to edge, however, that will also require caulk to seal.

Bathrooms are naturally moisture-rich environments, so choose a durable, water-resistant tile for your tub surround. Porcelain and ceramic are two popular options that are also quite affordable. Glass is another good option that’s also low-maintenance—you just need a glass cleaner like you would use on the bathroom mirror. Natural stone tile is porous, but it’s still a viable option if you choose it in a glazed version.

Installing kitchen countertop tiles on a mold and moisture-resistant cement backer board is one of the best options. When fitted correctly on top of a plywood base, it’s stable and long-lasting. Old-fashioned cement board is economical, cuts neatly and easily with a circular or jigsaw, and screws into plywood without any difficulty.

Glazed ceramic tiles don’t need to be sealed because the glazing already offers some protection against moisture. Unglazed ceramic tiles need to be sealed to keep the porous tile safe from moisture and staining. However, both types of tile can benefit from sealing. Sealant can make the tiles easier to keep clean and offer more resistance to water, spills, and stains.
