"I came to Melissa & Bluehouse a number of years ago as I couldn't visualize the layout to accomplish my goals in what began as a kitchen remodel. Melissa's impeccable handling of my project from the word "go" is nothing but an understatement! Each and every detail I listed from want's & desires to fears & concerns were addressed. Living up to her word every step of the way, Melissa addressed my list while pointing out elements I hadn't thought of. She was aware of my limits and not only kept her bottom line under control, but she didn't design anything out of our budget. Considering we were on track to break ground in the spring of 2020, when Covid hit & supply chains derailed our start, Melissa was poised to do whatever needed to be done. In the end, rising costs & limited supply led us to delay construction until Jan. '23. As a TV news producer, I'm a tough cookie, and yet when I had questions, Melissa answered them honestly and often with visuals to help me understand what I needed to learn. I appreciated her teamwork attitude when working with the Structural Engineers let alone my amazing contractor! Melissa's perfectionism is the reason not one single measurement needed to be modified in what became not just a kitchen remodel, but a 1st-floor remake with our addition going both upstairs & down. "We recently had our kitchen completely gutted and replaced by Dan and AKC. The process from start to finish was amazing. Dan designed a beautiful kitchen that fit our unique needs. It was such fun looking at products and talking about design in the showroom. And seeing that design become reality in our kitchen was very rewarding. It turned out even better than I anticipated. "Once I sent her all the measurements, it took her a little while to get the options back to me.  Overall, they're good designs.  However, they're very simplistic and give general ideas for space planning.  I was hoping to have a better idea for sizes of furniture for the space and some variations on staging.  
Jill was very responsive when I did have a question.  I'm not sure how helpful it is to have a virtual design done.  If we lived in similar cities, I'd probably use her again for help with additional designs.

"It is a waste of money. The great majority of people are not going to find any value out of the service. If you need design consultation, you need a full service consultation. If you already have knowledge and experience, and you just need to get a few ideas, then you don't need to pay for that. You can just get a magazine or a book since you already have the knowledge of basic designs in your head or a little bit of experience. To have someone call you and give you information over the phone, you are not getting the personal service that you need. You may as well take the money $49 and apply it to something else like getting someone else to come out and give you the service that you need. Because, you are not getting much, you are not getting anything at all. They are going to have you do the work. After talking to them and I was talking to other home designers, I found out that that was a waste of time and waste of money. I gave them a C because they didn't fail at what they do but they don't offer any value for what they do. There's not much value to it. The cost was fair. They didn't do a terrible job and the cost isn't terrible, it was only $49. It just has a very low value. For responsiveness I gave them a B because they will answer your phone and answer your emails."

"Paul helped me with a complex structural engineering design problem for a large equipment shed that was embedded in a hillside creating large unbalanced forces on one of the walls. This needed to be solved in order to begin construction. Paul visited the site, conducted very professional analysis, and provided me with a design solution and engineering design documentation as needed for my permit process. Good communication, good guy, amazing expertise, knowledge, and experience and I am very glad I hired him. Highest recommendation."

"Responsiveness was prompt before the sale and an attractive design was proposed for both kitchen and bathroom. After a down payment was provided, service dropped off considerably. The quality of the work was mostly good, but seemed to vary among the work crew. Some areas had to be redone when workmanship was below par. Promises were made before the sale that were not honored afterwards. Any future customers should insist that any promises made should be put in writing using the same description as the promise. Otherwise, they should just assume it was never offered. All purchases for items used in project were purchased through the contractor with fixed allowances without ever seeing an itemized bill. Costs that exceeded the allowance were assessed as an up charge. Costs that may have been under the allowances were never used to offset the up charge, as far as I could tell."
