"This company is very professional... from the sales rep to the installers. They were courteous, knowledgeable, and did a first-rate job on a small awning we had installed awhile ago and a big, retractable awning we just had put up."

"Tony from American Awnings was fantastic. After the initial consultation, he said he wouldn't pressure me into anything. he showed the different types and fabric choices. Once I decided, he explained the process further and gave me a timeline which was on point. They installed the awning on one of the hottest days and did it professionally. He explained how to use the awning and some things to watch out for. He was a true professional and nice guy and I would recommend him and his company for anyone's awning needs."

Awnings questions, answered by experts

Costs range from $1,500 to $5,000, depending on size, material, and design.

Yes, awnings can add value to a home, primarily by boosting its curb appeal and providing more usable outdoor space. While the exact monetary return on investment depends on the awning's size, style, and quality, they offer an excellent appeal factor to potential buyers. For example, an awning with a trendy metal roof can be particularly attractive. Even if the direct increase in resale value is modest, a well-chosen awning enhances the home's functionality and aesthetic.

Retractable awnings offer numerous advantages for homeowners, including protecting your outdoor furniture against the elements. It can also help keep your deck in better shape since it adds a layer of protection against sun and precipitation.

Awnings offer a number of benefits, including:

  • Reduced summer home cooling costs with lower solar heat gains

  • Protection from sun, rain, and snow damage

  • Increased curb appeal for your home

Keep in mind that awnings also have drawbacks, including the potential to reduce your view, block natural light, and create new occasional home maintenance needs.

The longest-lasting awning materials include vinyl, polycarbonate, and polyester for their durability and cleanability. Other materials like canvas and metal can last a long time, but may wear out faster. The key to getting the longest life from your awning material is to maintain it properly by cleaning yearly, keeping debris from gathering on it, and protecting it during stormy weather or high winds by retracting it or moving it to a protected area.
