"Sobieski did the HVAC/ insulation on my new construction home in 2021. Every summer, there have been condensation issues in the basement bathroom. Multiple technicians have been out and "fixed the issue," but it is still occurring. The last technician quite literally said he watched a YouTube video about exhaust fans while installing a new exhaust fan for us. The company as a whole is incompetent, hard to communicate with, and takes no accountability for their wrongdoings. Sometimes, the drain is just too clogged—thanks, stubborn hair and soap scum. In this case, you’ll need a more powerful drain cleaner than you can DIY safely at home. But this doesn’t mean you have to choose a traditional drain cleaner. 

You can find biodegradable drain cleaners at your local home improvement store or online for those drains that need a little more oomph. 

While on the hunt for a formidable drain cleaner, the best options are non-chemical clog solutions that combine enzymes and bacteria.

Your home has a few telltale signs of a sewer line problem. If you notice multiple plumbing fixtures (toilet, sink, or shower drains) appear to be clogged, call a plumber ASAP. Also, if water appears in the tub or shower when you flush the toilet, you likely have a sewer line issue. A sulfur (rotten eggs) smell and bubbling or gurgling noises at the drain also warrant a check. And keep your eyes peeled for changes to the yard, such as a new indentation or mysteriously soggy grass.

It can take anywhere from one month to a couple of years for tree roots to grow back in sewer lines. Tree roots can cause extreme havoc on your sewer lines, potentially cracking them and causing untreated wastewater to make its way into the groundwater. Have a landscaping pro remove trees and roots before installing your system, or call a pro to do it retroactively as soon as you can.

The best practice is to hydro jet your sewer line once per year. However, there are several factors that can affect this recommendation, including the age and condition of your pipes, how often your sewer line is used, and the type of waste disposed of in the system.
