"From start to finish, the team at American Kitchen Concepts provided exceptional service and delivered a final product that exceeded all of my expectations. The design process was seamless and Dan took the time to truly understand out vision for the space. He provided valuable input and made sure that every detail was addressed in the final design. The attention to detail and commitment to quality was evident throughout the entire process. The construction phase was also managed with great care and professionalism. The team was punctual, respectful of my home, and always kept me informed of the progress. They went above and beyond to make sure that the work was completed to the highest standards. The final product is absolutely stunning. The new layout and design have transformed the space and have made it a more functional and beautiful area for my family to gather and entertain. The quality of the materials and craftsmanship is evident in every detail and I could not be happier with the results. We would highly recommend American Kitchen Concepts to anyone considering a kitchen remodel. Their team is professional, skilled, and dedicated to providing the best possible service and final product. We are confident that anyone who chooses American Kitchen Concepts will be as pleased with the results as we are."

"Victor Liberatore is a talented, very capable interior designer. It was a pleasure watching the concepts that he developed for us evolve from early sketches, to computer generated images, to the finished product. He has turned our home into a comfortably beautiful residence that my wife and I look forward to returning to each evening, He was flexible, easy to work with, and always open to new ideas. He frequently altered his time schedule to accommodate our needs. He consistently guided us to excellent products, and supervised the implementation of quality workmanship. Iâ  m happy to enthusiastically, recommend him without reservation. Fred B"

"Once I sent her all the measurements, it took her a little while to get the options back to me.  Overall, they're good designs.  However, they're very simplistic and give general ideas for space planning.  I was hoping to have a better idea for sizes of furniture for the space and some variations on staging.
Jill was very responsive when I did have a question.  I'm not sure how helpful it is to have a virtual design done.  If we lived in similar cities, I'd probably use her again for help with additional designs.

"I used an Angie's List deal for design consultation with Ruxton, and the meeting went really well, and the owner, Frank Zeberlein, who is also an architect, came up with plans a couple of weeks later to redesign the first floor (later, we would increase the scope to include the upstairs bathrooms and master closet). Frank reworked plans upon request, and he did so various times. He was really nice and professional throughout the whole process and was doing his best to meet our needs and concerns. His pricing was awesome, so it was hard to turn down his attractive offer. Ultimately, I chose another firm, however, because I felt their design plans were a bitter fit for me (not to say he doesn't have good design ideas that would please many people). However, I could tell he was really very knowledgeable and experienced in his field, as he could tell me in our older home where the original homeowners had put the stove, this entryway used to be a bay window, etc.; it all made sense why our house looked the way it did. I saw this big album of past work he had done in other homes, including kitchens that turned out beautifully. I gave this company a "B," since we didn't go with them in the end, but my experience with Frank was overall very pleasant."

"Everything looks wonderful! Jeff came out and gave us a very good fair quote for the job. The job took about 5 days. The guys were all really friendly and cleaned up everyday after they were done. I know our house wasn't easy because of the age of the house(1910) and its many imperfections, but Jeff stuck to the cost quoted and lived up to their quality of service. Jeff told me colors such as red many times need an extra coat of paint and could increase the cost of the quote; makes sense. We choose to paint the kitchen red and Jeff was very honest and told me our kitchen only took the normal two coats of paint, never asking for additional money. Some companies would have taken advantage of the circumstance and charged the extra anyways. Jeff's wife Kimberly does interior design so you can work with them together. Kim, also gave us a great quote on the design work, however at this time we choose to only paint. Choose Delgavio and you will be a happy home owner!!!!"

"James Moylen and his team are skilled and knowledgable and understand well that the customer comes first. I chose Design Builders over two other contractors because James listened more carefully than the others to both our hopes and fears, and specifically addressed each and every one in the design and throughout the construction. He and his workers were courteous, cleaned up the worksite every day, and most importantly, did a top quality job on every aspect of the work. Yes, there were small glitches along the way, but James maintained very close communication with me throughout and took every step possible to keep me a fully informed and satisfied customer. I highly recommend his company and would not hesitate to work with them again."

FAQs for interior design and decorating projects in Hampton, MD

Most interior designers have at least a four-year degree, if not an advanced degree in interior design. Additionally, many states require interior designers to be licensed. If your state does not require licensing, interior designers can take a licensing exam with the National Council of Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). Overall, licensing requirements vary from state to state, but most licenses require certain education levels and experience to qualify. To check the qualifications of your interior designer, use Angi’s state licensing tool.

The difference between an interior designer and an interior decorator is that the interior decorator focuses on the space’s colors, furniture, art, and finishes. An interior designer goes beyond that to plan and execute layouts, structural changes, and overall functionality in addition to aesthetics that the decorator manages. We recommend hiring an interior designer for major remodeling projects and hiring an interior decorator to establish or enhance your home’s interior style.

On average, hiring an interior designer costs about $8,200, ranging from $200 to $65,000, depending on where you live, the size of your home, and the type of decor. The total price tag of interior design services is based on whether they provide consultation and implementation as well as any specialty design services, such as home staging or digital design mock-ups. Residential interior designers typically charge an hourly rate of $50 to $200 per hour, or up to $500 per hour in areas with high demand.

Hiring an interior designer is often worth the investment, especially for larger projects beyond DIY interior design and project management skills. However, the decision to hire an interior designer depends on your budget and the size of the project. Some benefits of hiring an interior designer include:

  • Realizing the best layout and decor for optimal functionality of the space for your taste, budget, and lifestyle

  • Managing your project to keep the job on track and within budget

  • Assistance with home staging ahead of home sale

  • Serving as a point of contact for contractors

  • Accessing discounts from local suppliers

Before hiring an interior designer, ask a few questions to better understand how they work, what’s expected of you, and what they promise to deliver.

  • How long will the project take to complete?

  • What type of services do you offer?

  • Can you provide a project estimate?

  • Do you work with subcontractors?

  • Are you licensed or certified in this state?

  • Do you have a portfolio of previous work I can review?

  • May I contact your customer references?

  • How do you handle change orders?

  • How do you handle payment?
