"Jeremy did a great job. I had a deteriorating roof. Shingles had blown off recently. Jeremy and his crew worked in 35 degree weather to replace my whole roof. I had originally intended to do it in the Spring but I didn't feel I could put it off that long. Because of an impending ice storm, he had a two- day window to get it completed. He showed up promptly when he said he would and kept me posted on his progress and timeline. The job was completed on time and on budget. It was done very professionally. After it was completed, the job site was thoroughly cleaned up. I would highly recommend Jeremy for any future jobs."

"Family owned and operated. Oscar, brother and son are professional and very polite. Oscar keeps the customer updated well on the project. They relined our pond, repaired an area of our slate roof and power washed roof and all patio and walks. Very efficient and hard working crew. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!"

"Mark with Ledford roofing has done two jobs for us. We highly recommend him for any roofing project, and he'll be our first call for any roofing work in the future, too. The first job just was a very challenging roof repair around our chimney. Mark fixed the problematic leak that we likely had coming into the fireplace for years. The 2nd job was repairing loose and missing shingles on both sides of our roof. He somehow sourced matching shingles and made these repairs for a very reasonable price. He came back to check on them later and ensure they were secure on a dry day, too. We've been doing a lot of renovations this past year and among folks we've needed to hire for help and expertise in terms of communication, scheduling and quality. Ledford roofing is top tier."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Fall is widely considered the best time of year to replace a roof. The moderate temperatures are ideal for roofing crews to work and for new shingles to seal properly. Additionally, autumn weather is often drier, reducing the risk of weather-related delays compared to the rainier spring season.

While spring is also a viable option, the higher chance of rainfall can slow down the project. The main drawback to a fall installation is that it's the peak season for roofers, which can lead to higher prices and scheduling challenges.

To potentially save money, you could consider scheduling your roof replacement during the summer or winter off-seasons. However, both seasons have significant disadvantages. Extreme summer heat can make shingles too soft to handle, while winter's cold, snow, and ice can create dangerous working conditions and prevent shingles from sealing correctly, as they typically require temperatures above 40-45°F.

If you choose to get a personal loan to finance a roof, you will want to aim for a “good” or “excellent” credit score for the best rates. That means a credit score of 690 or more. If you aren’t sure of your credit score, you can request one free credit report per year from each of the three major credit bureaus: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. Many banks also provide free credit reports monthly.

If your roof has storm damage, there will be some telltale signs. These include missing, loose, or damaged shingles. You may notice cracks or dents on the metal parts of your roof, like flashing, gutters, or metal panels. Water leaks are another big indicator. So are visible signs of impact. Rather than climb up on your roof to check, hire a professional to inspect the area  safely.

Pea-sized hail can damage a roof if it experiences hailstorms often, as it slowly causes cracks and deterioration to your shingles. Usually, one hailstorm with pea-sized hail won’t damage your roof, but if you see other damage to your car, grill, and other property, it may be worthwhile to get in touch with your insurance company and have a local roofer come out for an inspection.

Wooden roofs require regular maintenance, are prone to rot and mold, and are frequently the target of insect infestations. Natural wood is also excellent at absorbing and storing moisture—not a positive. In climates where the weather shifts dramatically, the wood can also crack, split, or warp.
