"We recently bought a new home and needed some electrical work done. We contacted RaLo rather late one evening when we had issues with installing our new programmable thermostat, surprisingly someone answered the phone and said they could get someone out the next morning. Mike showed up on time and after discussing the issue with my husband, he went right to work and had us up and running in no time.
Our new home has an unfinished basement and while we plan on finishing it we know it might take some time to fit in the budget, in the meantime we decided one outlet was not enough and decided to get some more installed. Based on his previous work, we didn't hesitate to call RaLo and schedule the work.
Mike showed up right on time and after expaining what we wanted done in our unfinished basement, we discussed and he explained that most of the work we requested should wait until we finish the basement otherwise it would just be a waste of money because it would need to be redone once all the walls went up. We agreed on a temporary fix that we were very pleased with and he went right to work.
Mike is very personable and professional which my husband and I really appreciate. We also like to support local businesses and are very glad to have found a great electrician we can rely on to get the job done. We are extremely pleased with RaLo's customer service, quality of work and price.
We plan on using RaLo for several other projects in the very near future.

"The work went great. A representative looked over the situation ( a 3 story townhouse), decided it could be done and gave us a solid price. The two person crew who did the work were punctual, efficient and neat in their work. The detectors and wiring was installed with no damage to the paint. The job took them about 3 hours. My wife and I were very pleased."

"As usual their work was second to none. Outstanding job, took all of maybe 30 minutes. Was early and went right to work, located it and installed it PDQ. That’s why we have S&S on speed dial."

This generator was installed on the side of a house. The window had to be replaced to allow for the generator to be placed in this location. The window was made to not open per code.
We installed this 14kW generator to power the whole house. We used load shed modules to be able to save the customer money by using a smaller generator than would have been needed if we didn't use the load shed modules.

"I had the pleasure of working with Leo to install an electric vehicle charger at my home, and I could not be more impressed with his work. From start to finish, Leo was professional, punctual, and extremely knowledgeable. He took the time to assess the best location for the charger, explained the entire process in detail, and answered all my questions. Leo?s attention to detail was exceptional. He ensured that everything was installed to code and double-checked everything for safety. The work was completed quickly, cleanly, and with no disruptions to my daily routine. I truly appreciated his expertise and the care he took to make sure the installation was seamless. I highly recommend Leo for any electrical work, especially if you are looking for someone to handle your EV charger installation. His professionalism and skill are second to none and I will be working with him on other electrical projects in the future."

Doorbell Installation questions, answered by experts

When it comes to fiberglass insulation versus foam board, there are a few notable differences, both aesthetically and functionally. Fiberglass insulation is soft and flexible, meaning it can be squeezed into tight spaces more easily than foam board. Fiberglass insulation also has a higher R-value, making it a better pick for colder climates. However, foam board insulation can resist moisture and pest damage much better than fiberglass.

Yes, crawl space insulation is worth it if installed correctly. Installing insulation in your crawl space will improve the air quality, help stabilize your home's temperature, lower your energy bills, and prevent pests from entering your home. Though you’ll pay more to install insulation initially, the savings you get from installing insulation can help offset those initial costs over time.

The most insulative type of insulation for behind drywall is spray foam insulation, but this is the most expensive insulation available. The most common insulation—sometimes considered the best for the value you get for the money—is fiberglass roll or fiberglass batt insulation, which is significantly more affordable but also far less insulative. The best kind of insulation for your house will also vary based on the climate in your area, your budget, and more. A professional insulation company can help you decide which type is best for your home.

On average, insulating an attic costs about $2,500, with a typical range of $1,500 to $3,500. The final price often depends on the attic's size, with costs generally falling between $1 to $3 per square foot. For example, insulating a 1,800-square-foot attic would likely cost between $1,800 and $5,400.

If the project involves removing old insulation, this can add an average of $900 to the total cost, bringing a full removal and reinsulation project to around $3,000.

Several factors influence the overall cost:

  • Insulation Type: Prices per square foot vary significantly by material.

  • Reflective: $0.50–$1.50

  • Blown-in: $1–$4

  • Batt: $2–$4

  • Loose-fill: $2–$5

  • Spray foam: $2–$5

  • Structural insulated panels (SIPs): $4–$7

  • Project Complexity: Factors like sealing air leaks, poor attic accessibility, and required inspections can add to the cost.

  • Removal Issues: The discovery of mold, asbestos, or pests during the removal of old insulation can substantially increase the price.

Blown-in insulation works, but only for unfinished attics. Also, it isn’t the longest-lasting nor the most effective option. For better options, look into spray foam insulation or natural fiber batts. They typically have a longer lifespan, better heat resistance, and stronger sound-proof abilities. Spray foam insulation costs about $1.25 to $1.50 per square foot, but can go up to more than $4 per square foot. Fiber batt pricing varies depending on the material.
