"Jose and his crew took down a huge 200+ year old tree on our property. They did an excellent job! They are professional experts and we will most definitely call them again to trim and/or remove the other old trees that need attention. "Carlos came prepared to work on the initial estimate visit to my home. Within 3 hours at my home the tree was removed and the sizable stump was grinded up. He was prompt with taking away the brush and cleaning up behind himself. I would strongly recommend him."

"The Tim Mente crew performed the felling of six dead mature trees on our property with great skill, care and professionalism. Two very large trees adjacent to our neighbor's property line were dismantled in sections and gently lowered to the ground. Not a single branch fell into the nearby yard. Our lawn was swept free of all debris and chipped. We will use this byproduct for mulch. Logs were removed very skillfully by a worker operating a Toro tracked Dingo. Plywood was laid down to protect our lawn. The company is licensed and insured to a sufficient level. The total job price was very competitive and significantly less than the top bidder. Tim Mente's crew earned an A+ rating from us. We most definitely would recommend them to others and, when needed, call upon their services again."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Late August, September, and mid-October are the ideal months for planting a young tree. However, the best time to plant a tree ultimately depends on when the weather transitions to fall-like conditions and eventually winter frost. As long as the hottest days of summer have passed and the ground hasn’t frozen yet, you can still successfully plant trees.

Trees should be pruned every two to five years, depending on its age and type. Young trees should be inspected and pruned every two to three years. Mature trees should be inspected and trimmed every three to five years, and fruit trees should be pruned annually with a careful eye on seasonal growth. Evergreens typically don’t need pruning, unless branches or limbs are damaged, diseased, or harboring pests.

Homeowners are usually not responsible for trees that fall on power lines. Power companies usually have utility easements around power lines, which give them the responsibility to maintain any trees within about 15 to 20 feet of the lines.

If a tree isn’t pruned, it can inhibit proper growth and fruit production, cause damage to both the tree and your property, and create entry points for pests and diseases. Pruning a tree enhances its stability, appearance, shape, and growth. Pruning trees regularly can also save you money long-term by avoiding overgrown or dangerous dying trees.

Not every arborist climbs trees, but most will do so if that’s the best method for assessing or treating a tree. Arborists have a variety of tree climbing gear and safety equipment to choose from when climbing trees. Consult your local arborist about their tree-climbing plan if your service requires that type of task.
